Job summary

Cognisol is seeking a hands-on QA automation engineer in Mumbai to own test coverage across web applications, APIs and financial workflows. The role is automation-first, with AI-assisted tooling to generate and maintain test cases, expand coverage, triage failures and reduce flakiness.

You will build and maintain automated suites using Selenium, Cypress or Playwright, design test plans, run regression suites, validate payments and financial calculations, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

Role Overview

Owns test coverage across web applications, APIs and financial workflows. The role is automation-first: manual testing is used for exploratory work and edge cases, while regression and release validation run through maintained automated suites.

Expects hands-on use of AI tooling to accelerate this work — generating and maintaining test cases from requirements, expanding coverage on existing suites, triaging failures and reducing flakiness — with the engineer accountable for the quality and correctness of what the tooling produces.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated test suites using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or equivalent frameworks.
• Use AI-assisted tooling to generate, extend and maintain test cases and test data, and to triage and reduce flaky failures.
• Design and execute test plans, test cases and regression suites for web and API-based applications.
• Test payment workflows, reconciliation logic, financial calculations and transaction-related systems with a high accuracy bar.
• Conduct API testing using Postman and REST Assured, and validate backend data using SQL.
• Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines and release validation.
• Perform functional, regression, integration and exploratory testing across product modules.
• Track and close defects using defect management tools, and report on product quality metrics.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers and business teams through sprint planning and requirement reviews.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional experience in QA or software testing for SaaS, fintech or enterprise products, with a majority in test automation.
• Proficiency in automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress or Playwright, and a programming language used for test development.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance or triage.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman and REST Assured.
• Intermediate SQL skills for backend data validation and verification.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution workflows.
• Strong understanding of the software testing lifecycle, QA methodologies and defect management, in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.

Preferred / General Requirements

• Experience testing fintech, accounting, payments or finance automation platforms.
• Exposure to testing non-deterministic systems — model or agent outputs, extraction accuracy, evaluation datasets.
• Understanding of performance, security and usability testing concepts.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills, with attention to detail and a high quality bar.
