Job summary

Quod Financial is seeking a QA Automation Engineer in Cochin, India to join its QA and Release Engineering team. The role focuses on building automated test suites in Python while performing manual regression for official releases.

Qualifications

About the QA Automation Engineer Role

Quod Financial is hiring a QA Automation Engineer in Cochin, India to join our QA and Release Engineering team — a full-time, on-site role open to junior and mid-level engineers who want to automate testing for multi-asset trading platforms.

As a QA Automation Engineer, you will build and maintain automated test suites in Python while also running manual regression cycles for official releases. In addition, you will deploy, configure and troubleshoot test environments on Linux, including Docker-based and Kubernetes-based setups. Moreover, you will work closely with developers to investigate defects and improve how the team tests every release.

Responsibilities

• Test Automation Development: Design, develop and maintain automated test suites in Python using pytest and Selenium, and keyword-driven suites in Robot Framework. Identify automation candidates within existing manual regression packs and convert them into reliable, reusable, data-driven tests.
• Framework Maintenance & Code Quality: Extend shared automation libraries, page objects, custom keywords and test utilities. Participate in peer code reviews and keep suites maintainable, deterministic and free of flaky tests.
• Regression & Release Testing: Set up test environments and tools, then execute automated and manual regression cycles for official releases, verifying core functionality across supported platforms and configurations.
• Test Environment Support: Deploy, configure and troubleshoot test environments on Linux, including Docker-based and Kubernetes-based deployments, and manage test data and environment configuration.
• Defect Analysis & Root Cause Investigation: Reproduce, isolate and troubleshoot defects using application logs, Linux tooling and monitoring dashboards. Perform root cause analysis, collaborate with developers on resolution, and log actionable, well-evidenced bug reports.
• Run Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor scheduled and overnight automated runs, triage failures, track latency issues and application health checks, and deliver clear execution reports covering both manual and automated results.
• Collaboration & Process Improvement: Work with developers, QA colleagues and stakeholders to clarify requirements, review test coverage, and continuously refine testing workflows and engineering efficiency.

QA Automation Engineer Requirements

Must-Have

• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a QA Engineer, with proven expertise in both manual and automated testing
• Strong proficiency in Python for test automation development (modules, OOP, standard libraries)
• Hands-on experience with pytest and Selenium WebDriver for building and executing automated suites
• Proven experience in designing, setting up and executing manual and automated regression suites and analysing test results
• Experience with Git (branching, merge requests, code reviews) and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitLab CI for triggering automated suites
• Strong command of Linux for test execution, log analysis and troubleshooting (shell, grep/awk, services, processes)
• Experience with Jira (issue and defect tracking) and Confluence (documentation)
• Strong defect investigation skills (ability to identify, reproduce, analyse root causes and report issues)
• Clear communication skills with the ability to present detailed execution and bug reports to stakeholders

Nice-to-Have

• Exposure to Kubernetes for deploying, inspecting and debugging test environments
• Experience with log analysis and monitoring stacks (ELK / Kibana, Grafana)
• Experience with additional automation frameworks and tools, including performance or load testing
• Experience in desktop testing for Windows-based applications
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Knowledge of Financial Markets / Trading
