Job summary

ExeMed invites an experienced Purchase professional to lead procurement of packaging materials for its pharmaceutical formulation facility. The candidate will oversee sourcing primary and secondary packing components, monitor supplier performance, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10 years in pharma packaging procurement, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/SAP.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in packing material procurement, preferably in a pharma formulation unit.
• Strong knowledge of primary and secondary packaging materials used in pharma products.
• Good negotiation, vendor development and supplier management skills.
• Understanding of packaging specifications, quality requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/SAP procurement modules.
• Excellent communication, coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of primary and secondary packing materials for pharmaceutical formulations.
• Procure materials such as bottles, caps, labels, cartons, foils, blister films, PVC/PVDC, leaflets, shippers, and other packaging components.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Regulatory Affairs, and Planning teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and annual rate contracts to achieve cost savings.
• Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and follow up on deliveries.
• Ensure packing materials comply with approved specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor vendor performance, lead times, material rejection rates, and delivery commitments.

The candidate should have strong knowledge of pharmaceutical packaging materials, vendor management, cost optimization, and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of primary and secondary packing materials for pharmaceutical formulations.
• Procure materials such as bottles, caps, labels, cartons, foils, blister films, PVC/PVDC, leaflets, shippers, and other packaging components.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Regulatory Affairs, and Planning teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and annual rate contracts to achieve cost savings.
• Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and follow up on deliveries.

• Maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Resolve issues related to material quality, shortages, delayed supplies, and price discrepancies in coordination with relevant departments.
• Maintain procurement records, vendor documentation, and MIS reports.
• Support cost-reduction initiatives and continuously improve procurement efficiency.

Educational Qualification

• Graduate in any discipline; a degree or diploma in a relevant field will be preferred.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8-10 years of experience in packing material procurement, preferably in a pharmaceutical formulation company.
• Strong knowledge of primary and secondary packaging materials used in pharmaceutical products.
• Good negotiation, vendor development, and supplier management skills.
