Job summary

Crestfoods in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is seeking an experienced Purchase Manager to lead end-to-end procurement of frozen food products, packaging materials, and related operational requirements.

You will build and manage supplier networks, negotiate terms, ensure cold-chain compliance, and drive cost efficiencies while maintaining quality and timely deliveries.

The role requires 5–10 years in purchase/procurement within FMCG or food processing, willingness to travel, and strong Excel/MIS skills.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement.
• Experience in Frozen Food or FMCG is preferred.
• Knowledge of cold-chain, shelf life, FEFO and MOQ.

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Purchase Manager to manage end-to-end procurement of frozen food products, packaging materials, and other operational requirements while ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end purchase activities for frozen food products and related materials.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate price, payment terms, quality, MOQ, and delivery schedules.
• Plan purchases based on sales, inventory, production, and demand requirements.
• Monitor stock availability and avoid both stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery and resolve supply issues.
• Ensure proper documentation for purchase orders, invoices, GRNs, and payments.
• Monitor product quality, shelf life, expiry, and storage requirements.
• Develop alternative vendors to reduce supply-chain risks.
• Track purchase prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with Warehouse, Sales, Finance, Production, and Supply Chain teams.
• Monitor vendor performance and maintain supplier relationships.
• Prepare purchase reports, MIS, and procurement-related KPIs.
• Ensure procurement follows company policies and approval processes.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 5-10 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably in Frozen Food, FMCG, Food Processing, Dairy, Meat, Seafood, or similar industries.
• Strong experience in frozen food sourcing and vendor management preferred.
• Good knowledge of cold-chain requirements, shelf life, expiry, MOQ, and FEFO.
• Should have strong supplier networks and negotiation skills.
• Experience handling multiple vendors and locations will be an advantage.
• Good analytical skills with strong Excel/MIS knowledge.
• Willingness to travel for supplier visits and market sourcing when required
