Job summary

MM Management is seeking a Purchase Manager in Asangaon, Thane, Maharashtra, to lead procurement, vendor development and import activities for a manufacturing setup in the commercial refrigeration and engineering sector.

You will manage supplier negotiations, ensure timely material availability for production, and coordinate with Stores, Quality and Logistics. 3–5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment is required, with strong Excel and ERP/Tally skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (ME/IE/Commerce/SCM).
• MBA/PGDM in SCM/Operations is a plus.
• 3–5 years of procurement/purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Experience in commercial refrigeration, HVAC, sheet metal or industrial manufacturing is preferred.
• Hands-on import procurement and vendor development experience.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, analytical and communication skills.
• Knowledge of ERP/Tally Prime and strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle procurement of raw materials, components and sub-assemblies per production needs.
• Identify and develop new suppliers and negotiate terms.
• Monitor vendor performance on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Coordinate with Stores and Production for optimum inventory levels.
• Ensure accurate procurement and inventory transactions in ERP systems.
• Coordinate with Quality for material inspection and corrective actions.
• Manage import/export documentation and liaise with freight forwarders and customs.

Position Details

Role Overview

The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing procurement activities, vendor development, inventory coordination, import procurement, documentation, and ensuring the uninterrupted availability of quality raw materials for production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies as per production requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial terms.
• Monitor vendor performance based on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Coordinate with Stores and Production to ensure optimum inventory levels and uninterrupted material availability.
• Ensure accurate purchase and inventory transactions in the ERP system.
• Coordinate with Quality for material inspection, rejection, replacement, and corrective actions.
• Manage import/export documentation and coordinate with freight forwarders, customs agents, transporters, and logistics partners.
• Maintain procurement records, purchase orders, contracts, and supplier documentation.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, alternate vendors, and value engineering.
• Monitor material price trends and support procurement budget control.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and statutory requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management or Operations will be an added advantage.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in procurement/purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in commercial refrigeration, HVAC, sheet metal, engineering, or industrial manufacturing will be preferred.
• Hands‑on experience in import procurement and vendor development is essential.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of inventory management and import/export documentation.
• Working knowledge of Tally Prime / ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
