CanKids KidsCan seeks a Psychologist to advance the Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Program, delivering holistic psychosocial support to children (0–19) with cancer and families. Lead interventions across diagnosis to bereavement, in hospital, clinic, and tele-consultation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to build resilient families.
The role emphasizes training, program development, and research to evaluate outcomes and inform best practices in pediatric psycho-oncology.
Founded in 2004 by Poonam Bagai, herself a cancer survivor, CanKids KidsCan, the National Society for Change For Childhood Cancer In India partners with hospitals, medical professionals, and state governments to enable access and best standards of treatment, care and support across 60 cities and 22 states of India.
Catering to childhood cancer patients from primarily underprivileged families, CanKids is present in 141 hospitals across India. Summary:
The Psychologist will play a pivotal role in advancing the Pediatric Psycho-Oncology (PPO) Programme at CanKids KidsCan, a national NGO dedicated to transforming childhood cancer care in India. With a mission to ensure 100% Access2Care and 100% Financial Protection by 2030, aligned with the WHO GICC and Sustainable Development Goals, this role is central to delivering holistic, psychosocial support to children with cancer and their families. The Psychologist will lead the implementation of evidence-based psychological interventions across treatment phases—diagnosis, treatment, relapse, palliative care, and bereavement—through individual and group counseling, expressive therapies, child life activities, and psycho-education. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams in hospitals, clinics, and via tele-consultation, the Psychologist will contribute to building resilient families, improving quality of life, and strengthening system-level capacity.
