Siemens Energy India Limited invites an experienced relay testing and substation professional to lead end-to-end 220 kV GIS/AIS projects in Chennai. The role covers testing, commissioning, maintenance and protection system validation across EHV substations.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in relay testing and substation O&M, with hands-on experience on numerical relays from Siemens/ABB/GE/Schneider/SEL and strong knowledge of protection schemes and automation.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 years in relay testing and substation maintenance.
2+ years in a responsible role in maintenance/operation of EHV substations.
Hands-on experience with numerical relays from Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider, or SEL.
Strong knowledge of transmission systems, protection schemes and substation automation.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end execution of 220 kV GIS/AIS substation projects.
Perform relay testing, coordination studies, relay setting verification, and protection validation.
Troubleshoot protection system malfunctions, relay operations and electrical faults.
Maintain protection panels, control panels, disturbance recorders, fault recorders and annunciation systems.
Conduct preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of protection and control systems.
Test and maintain CTs, PTs/CVTs, circuit breakers and power transformers.
Analyze fault records, event logs and relay indications.
Ensure compliance with standards, procedures and customer requirements.
Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, relay test reports and root cause analyses.
Coordinate with operation, maintenance and commissioning teams for planned shutdowns.

Lead end-to-end execution of 220 kV GIS/AIS substation projects, ensuring safe, profitable and on-time delivery in compliance with customer, contractual, quality and EHS requirements.

How Youll Make an Impact

Testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of numerical and conventional protection relays in EHV substations.
Performing relay testing, relay coordination studies, relay setting verification, and protection system validation.
Troubleshooting and analysis of protection system malfunctions, relay operations, and electrical faults.
Maintenance and testing of protection panels, control panels, disturbance recorders, fault recorders, and annunciation systems.
Conducting preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of protection and control systems.
Testing and maintenance of CTs, PTs/CVTs, circuit breakers, power transformers, auxiliary transformers, and associated protection schemes.
Analysis of fault records, event logs, relay indications, and tripping incidents.
Ensuring compliance with applicable standards, operating procedures, and customer requirements.
Preparation of technical reports, maintenance records, relay test reports, and root cause analysis reports.
Coordination with operation, maintenance, and commissioning teams for planned shutdowns and restoration activities.
Ensuring strict adherence to EHS requirements, PTW, LOTO, and electrical safety procedures.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Minimum 6 years of experience in the field of Relay Testing, Testing & Commissioning, and Operation & Maintenance of EHV Substations and associated electrical equipment.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a responsible position in the maintenance and operation of electrical substations or power plants.
Hands-on experience in testing and commissioning of numerical relays from Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider, SEL, or equivalent manufacturers.
Good knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, protection schemes, and substation automation systems.
