Job summary

Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) in Chennai seeks a Proposal Manager to join the proposals department. You will support the Manager of Proposals, lead bids of various sizes, and work with sales and operations to deliver creative, client-focused, and commercially astute proposals.

The role involves coordinating proposal activities, ensuring adherence to procedures, and developing win strategies. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, science or similar discipline.
• 10+ years of combined experience in sales, engineering, construction or operations in the engineering/construction industry.
• Good understanding of proposal principles and international EPC business.
• Experience in managing and writing persuasive proposals.
• Experience in the hydrocarbons market would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Proposal planning and coordination of proposal team activities; define deliverables and ensure completion.
• Ensure adherence to proposal procedures and provide guidance during preparation (kick-off to red team reviews).
• Ensure proposals respond to invitation to tender documents.
• Develop budgets with BD managers and proposal leaders.
• Develop and coordinate win themes and strategies to differentiate KBR.
• Write sections or whole proposals for smaller bids.
• Review bids prior to submission.
• Support business development/operations in bid's commercial aspects.
• Coordinate with other KBR offices for inputs and bid development.
• Stand in for senior manager of proposals in absence.
• Maintain data/information for proposal preparation.
• Prepare expressions of interest, pre-qualifications, client presentations and support other sales/marketing activities.

Proposal Manager

The proposal manager is a key member of the proposals department and will be responsible for supporting the Manager of Proposals in ensuring that KBR continues to deliver the highest quality proposal documentation. The proposal manager forms part of the management team for all of our pursuits and works closely with sales (business development) and operations in ensuring we offer creative, client focused, and commercially astute proposals.

Responsibility

The proposal manager leads small/medium/large sized proposals and pre-qualifications and supports project directors and business development directors on major pursuits.

Work Pattern - To be aligned to the Houston office timings (6:00pm to 2:00am)

The proposal manager is responsible for:

• Proposal planning and co-ordination of proposal team activities. Assisting with the definition of proposal deliverables and facilitating their completion.
• Ensuring adherence to proposals procedures and providing guidance to others involved in proposal preparation processes (from kick-off to red team reviews)
• Ensuring proposals are responsive to invitation to tender documents
• Developing proposal budgets with business development managers and proposal leaders
• Developing, coordinating and producing win themes and strategies - differentiating us from our competitors
• Writing individual sections of proposals or, for smaller proposals, the whole proposal
• Conducting reviews of bids prior to submission
• Supporting business development / operations in developing the commercial aspects of the bid
• Coordinating with other KBR offices for inputs and bid development
• Standing in for the senior manager of proposals in his absence
• Supporting the maintenance of data/information needed for the preparation of proposals
• Preparation of expressions of interest, pre-qualifications, client presentations and support on other sales and marketing activities

Experience

Skills will have been typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in engineering, science or similar discipline and 10 or more years of combined experience (sales, engineering, construction or operations) in the engineering and construction industry.

Good understanding of proposal principles and international EPC business.

Experience in managing and writing persuasive proposals.

Experience in the hydrocarbons market would be advantageous.
