Job summary

SIEMENS ENERGY INDIA LIMITED in Gurgaon, India, seeks a mid-level Proposal Engineer (Fluid & Mechanical Systems) to steer the complete proposal development process for Large Gas Turbine auxiliary systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5 to 15 years of experience in proposal/system/package engineering.
• Experience with large gas turbine auxiliary systems and bid evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications, tender documents, codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Analyze customer requirements and define technically compliant and competitive solutions for Large Gas Turbine auxiliary systems.
• Prepare technical offer documentation, including offer texts, technical specifications, assumptions, clarifications, deviations, and exceptions.
• Lead and support technical clarification meetings and discussions with customers during the proposal phase and drive closure of open technical topics.
• Perform engineering evaluations, feasibility studies, and calculations required to support proposal development.
• Conduct technical risk assessments and identify opportunities to improve technical and commercial competitiveness.
• Support cost estimation activities and evaluate the impact of customer requirements on design, schedule, quality, and costs.
• Coordinate with R&D, Product Development, Procurement, Project Management, Execution Engineering, and other proposal teams to develop optimized solutions.
• Support supplier interactions, technical evaluations, vendor clarifications, and incorporation of supplier inputs into proposal packages.
• Develop proposals covering fluid and mechanical auxiliary systems associated with Large Gas Turbine packages, including lubrication oil, control oil, fuel gas, fuel oil, drain and wet compression systems, and related equipment.

Proposal Engineer – Fluid & Mechanical Systems is responsible for supporting the complete proposal development process for Large Gas Turbine auxiliary systems, ensuring customer requirements are translated into technically compliant, commercially competitive, and executable solutions. The position requires close collaboration with customers, suppliers, engineering disciplines, product development, procurement, project management, and execution teams throughout the proposal lifecycle.

The position will be based in Gurgaon, India, within the globally operating Fluid & Mechanical Systems Proposal Engineering Department for Large Gas Turbine (LGT) projects. The department collaborates closely with engineering, product development, and proposal teams across multiple international locations to deliver competitive and technically robust solutions for customers worldwide.

• Develop proposals covering fluid and mechanical auxiliary systems associated with Large Gas Turbine packages, including lubrication oil, control oil, fuel gas, fuel oil, drain and wet compression systems, as well as auxiliary equipment such as noise enclosures, fire-fighting systems, rotor air coolers, exhaust gas diffusers, fin-fan generator coolers, GT inlet dehumidifiers, and related package equipment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable product requirements, customer specifications, internal standards, and engineering guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain proposal documentation within applicable engineering and business systems.
• Support bid reviews and approval processes.
• Ensure effective handover of technical scope, assumptions, clarifications, deviations, risks, opportunities, and customer commitments to the execution team following project award.
• Contribute to standardization, process improvements, lessons learned, quality enhancement, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Provide engineering support to execution projects and site activities when required.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5 to 15 years of relevant experience in Proposal Engineering, System Engineering, Package Engineering, or Project Engineering.
• Strong understanding of fluid and mechanical auxiliary systems used in Large Gas Turbine projects.
• Experience in technical bid evaluation, customer specification review, proposal preparation, and clarification/deviation management.
• Good understanding of technical risk analysis, cost optimization, and contractual requirements.
• Experience working in global and cross-functional engineering environments.
• Knowledge of Fabasoft, CPP, NCT, COMOS, Teamcenter, or similar engineering tools is preferred.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance technical requirements, quality, delivery schedules, and costs while developing proposal solutions.
• High level of ownership, flexibility, customer focus, and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to travel globally as required.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills in a multicultural environment.
