Job summary

Alstom in India is seeking a Project Material Manager to lead material planning and industrialization for PBS/BoM, coordinating with Core Team and Signalling Center.

You will drive procurement, manufacturing, testing, logistics, and ensure stock levels align with the industrial strategy while managing obsolescence and project closure.

Qualifications

  • University engineering degree required.
  • Metro project experience with CBTC is preferable.
  • 10–12 years in industrial, project management, procurement, and supply chain.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory).
  • Strong product/system knowledge and ERP experience.
  • Leadership and team motivation are essential.
  • Ability to work with urgency and write clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project materialization for PBS/BoM, aligning with QCD.
  • Industrialize processes, standardize products, and optimize logistics.
  • Coordinate with Core Team and participating units.
  • Manage BoM availability and obsolescence plans.
  • Drive procurement, manufacturing, testing, logistics, and shipment tasks.
  • Ensure stock levels fit strategic plans and support project closure.
  • Coordinate with PIM and Supply Chain on generic and project products.
  • Prepare FAT work plan with customers and ensure compliance.

We're looking forProject Material Managerto join our India Signaling Industrial and PMM team.

As PMM Role is an evolution of PrIDM (Project Industrial Manager) role and PPM (Procurement Project Manager), this role is still governed by RACI and SIPOC defined as in Signalling Project Industrial Process IND-IS-PRO-002 E, and by the Procurement Project Manager Handbook in line with Procurement PRO-002 .

Activities of the PMM, generic or other than Procurement:

ProjectExecution:for all material of project PBS/BoM, thePMM:

  • Ensure the proper set-up of Project Industrialization processand manage the corresponding deliverables in QCD. Leading Unit PMM coordinates with Core Team, Support Functions and other PMMs of Participating Units.
  • Apply Signalling Project Industrial Process .
  • On top of Industrialization Processmaximize the usage of standardized product inside the project material delivery scope and industrialize the logistics flow to reduce end to end material lead time (from Supplier to Customer).
  • Be proactive one BoM availability and associated obsolescence management plan (under Project responsibility).
  • Drive the demand to Industrial Operationsand deliver the Industrial QCD workpackage from all Signalling Regional Center involved, in liaison with other Industrial Operation teams who lead the execution of following tasks: supervision of material procurement, manufacturing & testing, logistic & shipment.
  • Guarantee that the level of stock on his/her project fits to the industrial strategy of the Regional Center/Operations, especially through consistent industrial planning update according to project context shipment.
  • Supervise cash flow curve related to material orders and minimize the time the material remains in the warehouse. Supportproject closureto clean and close the Hard Inventory.
  • Have a general vision of the Project’s / suppliers' progress, stakes, and difficulties. Define and agree with Procurement the capture or mitigation plans to be followed by Procurement.
  • For Generic Products, ensure the coordination with the PIM and Supply Chain/Logistic teams based on remote/participating units (notably ensures transfer orders are released timely and consistently to Participating Units).
  • For both generic and project specific products, consolidate requirements and supervises the preparation of Customer Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) work plan.
  • Follow project particular conditions are correctly applied and respected (such as localization rate, financial conditions…).
  • Build the Estimate at Completion for Project Manager /each Sub-Systems if applicable and the project consolidation; and is accountable for the overall Project SAPR & RAPR including claim.
  • Define improvement plans with Project Manager /respective Sub-System if applicable & Component teams - Follow-up the progress and ensure the progress is compliant with Project objectives.
  • Co-Validates with Project Manager /Sub-System Manager each gap vs CPR0 (deviation sheet & bridge approval process).

Project Execution: for Project specific products (notably on-board cabinets, trackside shelters...), thePMM:

  • Check completeness and on time availability of the detailed design (underPrEMresponsibility).
  • Define industrial scheme and related make or buy strategy.
  • Coordinate and supervises the Industrial Operationsthat arein charge of the following tasks: supervision of material procurement, products manufacturing and testing, logistic & shipment.
  • Ensure that necessary inputs data allowing respect of QCD commitment are consistently and timely made available by other project contributors (such as BoM,BoQ, requirements specification, …). In particularmonitor that development and Industrialization of new/modified generic Products (under PIM responsibility) used on the project is coherent with Project Industrial schedule and coordinates mitigation plan when needed.
  • Ensure ePMFU deployment for the Project throughout each Sub-System if applicable & Component (together with the respective “métiers” contributing to populate it). Build a general overview for the Project Manager.

During project warranty, coordinate the implementation of any repairs and retrofit plan needed for Material part of the industrial work package.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • University Engineering Degree
  • At least 1 Metro project experience including CBTC system is preferable
