Role Summary

We are seeking an accomplished Project Manager Shipbuilding to lead the successful execution of new shipbuilding projects from contract award through delivery. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all project activities to ensure timely completion within approved budgets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager will serve as the primary interface between clients, classification societies, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments, ensuring seamless project execution while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead and manage end-to-end execution of shipbuilding projects from project kick-off to vessel delivery.
  • Develop comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, milestones, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Define project objectives, deliverables, and performance indicators in alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to address schedule, cost, or technical deviations.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate activities among Engineering, Production, Procurement, Planning, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), HSE, and Commissioning teams.
  • Facilitate effective communication between internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Resolve technical, commercial, and operational issues impacting project performance.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct project review meetings and provide regular progress reports to clients and management.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure timely closure of client comments, technical queries, and contractual obligations.
Cost Control & Budget Management
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement effective cost-control measures.
  • Review and approve project-related expenditures and change orders.
  • Prepare project performance reports,including schedule and cost variance analyses.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, statutory requirements, and contractual specifications.
  • Coordinate with Classification Societies, Flag Authorities, and regulatory agencies for approvals and certifications.
  • Ensure adherence to shipyard quality management systems and industry best practices.
  • Monitor quality performance and support resolution of non-conformities.
Risk Management & Safety
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize schedule, cost, and operational impacts.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions where required.
Commissioning & Delivery
  • Oversee commissioning, testing, sea trials, and final vessel delivery activities.
  • Ensure successful handover of completed vessels along with all required documentation and certifications.
  • Coordinate project close-out activities and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in shipbuilding or shipyard project management.
  • Proven experience managing newbuild vessel projects from design through delivery.
  • Experience working with shipyards, EPC organizations, marine contractors, or offshore engineering companies.
  • PMP Certified or equivalent project management certification is an added advantage.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, vessel construction methodologies, and marine engineering practices.
  • Thorough understanding of Classification Society requirements and marine regulatory standards.
  • Expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
