Job summary

HARTEK GROUP in Mohali, Punjab, seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead 400 kV EHV substation and switchyard projects from planning through handover. You will coordinate electrical design, equipment installation and civil works, ensuring schedule, safety, and cost targets are met.

Responsibilities include procurement coordination, testing/commissioning, and client liaison, with travel to project sites as required. 10–15 years in power systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• 10–15 years of experience in power systems EHV substations.
• Experience with AIS/GIS substations, protection and control, SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and monitor 400 kV substations and switchyards from initiation to handover.
• Coordinate electrical design, drawings, layouts, SLDs and protection schemes.
• Oversee installation of AIS/GIS equipment, transformers, busbars and related gear.
• Coordinate civil works: foundations, gantries, control rooms and cable trenches.
• Coordinate procurement with OEMs, suppliers and contractors.
• Track schedules, budgets, resources, risks and progress.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, interlocking and SCADA systems.
• Ensure compliance with IS/IEC standards, drawings and EHS procedures.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and authorities.
• Lead project engineers and site teams; report to senior management.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Project Manager to lead and manage 400 kV EHV substation and switchyard projects. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project execution, planning, engineering coordination, procurement, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, quality requirements, timelines, and budgets.

The position is based at our Head Office in Mohali, Punjab, with coordination and visits to project sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Execution: Plan, manage, and monitor 400 kV substation and switchyard projects from project initiation through commissioning and handover.
• Engineering Coordination: Coordinate electrical design, engineering drawings, equipment layouts, SLDs, protection schemes, cable schedules, and technical documentation.
• EHV Equipment Management: Oversee installation and execution activities related to 400 kV circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs/CVTs, surge arresters, power transformers, busbars, insulators, and associated equipment.
• Civil & Structural Coordination: Coordinate foundation works, equipment structures, gantries, control room construction, cable trenches, earthing grids, and other associated civil works.
• Procurement & Vendor Management: Coordinate with procurement teams, suppliers, OEMs, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure timely availability of equipment and materials.
• Project Monitoring: Track project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, progress reports, critical milestones, and project risks.
• Testing & Commissioning: Supervise coordination of pre-commissioning checks, equipment testing, protection and control systems, interlocking, SCADA, and commissioning activities.
• Quality & Safety: Ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, applicable IS/IEC standards, client requirements, and EHS procedures.
• Client & Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, consultants, utilities, transmission companies, contractors, and statutory authorities.
• Contract & Cost Control: Monitor contractual obligations, billing milestones, variations, claims, project expenditure, and cost optimization.
• Team Leadership: Lead project engineers, site teams, planning engineers, QA/QC personnel, and subcontractors.
• Reporting: Prepare management reports, project dashboards, progress reviews, risk registers, and periodic updates for senior management.

Educational Qualification

• B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or institution.
• Additional qualifications in project management or power systems will be an advantage.

Experience & Technical Competencies

• Relevant experience in 220 kV, 400 kV, or higher-voltage EHV substation and switchyard projects.
• Strong knowledge of AIS/GIS substations, switchyard equipment, power transformers, busbar systems, protection and control, SCADA, and earthing systems.
• Experience in project scheduling, resource planning, cost control, contract management, and execution monitoring.
• Familiarity with technical specifications, approved drawings, quality documentation, testing procedures, and commissioning protocols.
• Proficiency in MS Project or Primavera P6, MS Excel, and project reporting tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites whenever required.
