Job summary

ABB is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead medium-to-large EPC projects in Automation – Process Industries. You will direct the project team, establish execution approaches, and manage planning, risk, and cost controls to meet contractual targets.

The role requires 12–15 years in EPC project management, certification (PMP/PRINCE2), and strong SAP/MS Project/Primavera skills. Onsite delivery and stakeholder coordination are key.

Qualifications

• 12-15 years of experience managing medium to large EPC projects across sectors.
• PMP®, PRINCE2® or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience in project management, EPC execution, planning, risk mitigation, contract management, cost control.
• Proven track record delivering projects valued up to INR 500 million.
• Proficiency in SAP, MS Project/Primavera P6, MS Office and project reporting tools.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Hands-on site execution, installation supervision and handover experience.

This Position reports to: Senior Project Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute medium-size projects. Each day, you will ensure that all related activities are executed in accordance with procedures, regulations, standards, specifications and targets. You will also showcase your project management skills by leading the project team members to fulfill project requirements, deliver contracted deliverables, and meet the expected project result.

This role is contributing to the Automation – Process Industries business. Main stakeholders are Customers, Sales & Tendering, Engineering, Procurement & Supply Chain, Project Execution teams, Finance, QHSE, Suppliers, and Business Management.

You will be mainly accountable for: Leading the project team, establishing the project execution approach, and overseeing planning, monitoring and control activities for internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals. Monitoring and controlling project progress, efficient resource utilization, and project financials. Identifying, qualifying, quantifying, managing project risk, and ensuring all opportunities are identified and pursued. Managing the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out, and acknowledgment by the customer, all in accordance with the contract.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, with PMP®, PRINCE2®, or equivalent project management certification.
• 12-15 years of experience managing medium to large EPC projects across Mining, Metals, Cement, Paper, Process Industries, and other industrial sectors, with a focus on Electrification and Automation solutions.
• Extensive experience in project management, EPC execution, project planning and scheduling, risk mitigation, contract management, cost control, and stakeholder management.
• Proven track record of delivering projects valued up to INR 500 million, managing the full project lifecycle from engineering and procurement through commissioning and customer handover.
• Proficient in SAP, MS Project/Primavera P6, Microsoft Office Suite, project financial management, and project reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage customer relationships, mitigate project risks, and deliver projects on time while meeting quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
• Hands-on experience in site execution, installation supervision, contractor management, testing, commissioning, start-up support, and customer acceptance, supported by strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
