Job summary

Emerson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage full lifecycle activities for control systems and SCADA projects. You will gather inputs, lead engineering and configuration of Ovation Green SCADA solutions, and guide teams through FAT/SAT and commissioning at customer sites.

You will model systems with PSCAD/PSSE/DIgSILENT, review SLDs, and ensure compliance with standards such as IEEE/IEC/NEC. Occasional travel to sites is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, C&I or Power Eng).
• 2–4 years of experience in DCS/PLC programming, engineering or commissioning.
• Ability to troubleshoot DCS/PLC control systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel 30–40% as per job requirements.
• Ability to interface with vendors and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead project inputs collection and review from Front Office or customer site.
• Guide Ovation controls and Ovation Green SCADA projects including software/hardware engineering and configuration.
• Coordinate team in implementing controls from diagrams and descriptions; perform tie-back simulations.
• Prepare IO lists, datasets and DBID; distribute work to system integrators.
• Engage in KOMs, project meetings, customer demos, FATs, SATs and commissioning.
• Model with PSCAD/PSSE/Digsilent and review models; read electrical SLDs.
• Perform process testing for Solar/BESS/Hybrid plants; understand IEEE/IEC/NEC and grid codes.
• Collaborate with Ovation Green product team; work with Matlab, PPC, JavaScript.
• Set up Ovation systems, test I/O, troubleshoot at site during commissioning.
• Diagnose faults in Ovation system, network and interfaces (OPC, Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850).
• Travel to project sites for testing, tuning and third-party communications.

Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

You will be responsible for complete Project Life Cycle i.e. starting from inputs analysis, Design & Engineering, Testing & Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) followed by commissioning as per requirement.

Project Engineering:

• Collection and review of project inputs from the Front Office or from the customer site through e-mail, kick off meeting, site survey.




• Lead Ovation controls and Ovation Green SCADA based Solar/BESS/Wind greenfield and retrofit projects, Software and hardware engineering and configuration




• Guiding team to implement controls from, functional diagrams or functional descriptions and doing Tie back simulation testing; modifications of control Logics/SCADA. Configuration on 3rd party protocols, ELC and SLC communication.




• Preparation and guiding the team on IO list, Datasets and DBID.




• Distributing the engineering work to system integrators, Participation in kick-off meetings (KOM), internal and external meetings of projects; Engagement in customer demos, FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities




• Execution of with PSCAD, PSSE, Digsilent modeling along with suppliers and providing adequate inputs and review of these models and ability to read electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs)




• Should be able to do process testing of Solar/BESS/Hybrid plants, Working knowledge of industrial standards like IEEE, IEC, NEC, and Grid codes




• Working closely with Ovation Green product team and work on Matlab, PPC, Java script.




• Ovation system setup, redundancy and I/O testing; Analogue and digital device testing and fault finding at site during commissioning.




• Fault diagnosis of Ovation system, network system, and various communication interfaces like OPC, Modbus, DNP3, serial, IEC 61850, etc during remote/site commissioning.




• Solar/BESS/Wind/Hybrid plant commissioning for commercial operation; Travel to project sites for site assignments, testing and tuning of various electrical control functions, for third-party communication.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, C&I, Power Engineering)




• Two (2) to Four (4) years of experience inDCS/PLC programming/Engineering / commissioning




• Ability to troubleshoot DCS/PLC control system




• Excellent language and communication skills; both verbal and written




• Ability to travel for 30 to 40% as per the job requirements




• Ability to effectively present information and respond to queries from groups of managers, clients, and customers




• Ability to interface with vendors & sub-contractors




• Should have good understanding of safety tools and gears, and safety guidelines of working at site

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

• Good knowledge of Solar, BESS power plant process and KPI’s




• Knowledge of electrical equipment like switchboards, generators, turbines, AVRs, motors, transformers, capacitors, CTs, VTs, feeders, meters, relays




• Knowledge in C programming, Matlab,Java script, SQL
