Job summary

United Way Mumbai operates the Pragati project to enable 2,000 girls from low‑income communities through activities in education, health, livelihood, and community engagement. We are hiring three consultants for a 6‑month assignment based in Malad and Kurnool.

Required: Master’s in Social Sciences/Education and 1–2 years in project design/field work; English and Telugu proficiency; ability to travel; strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Sciences or Education.
• 1–2 years of work experience in project design and on-ground implementation.
• Experience in education or youth work preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication; able to travel and connect with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop the project execution plan and content as required.
• Coordinate with stakeholders including government agencies, school authorities, vendors and partners; secure permissions; provide updates; ensure coordination.
• Support recruitment, orientation and management of the project implementation team.
• Monitor and coordinate the project team to support effective implementation.
• Ensure financial and programmatic efficiency per SOPs and strategies.
• Support achievement of deliverables and assess impact.
• Ensure financial and programmatic reporting per formats and timelines.
• Maintain regular updates to United Way Mumbai team.

Project Pragati, envisages the creation of enabling environments for approximately 2,000 girls from low-income communities to help them excel in their lives. The project aims to achieve this through the implementation of various activities in 4 key areas; education, health, livelihood, and community engagement.

Job Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of the project execution plan and project content as required.
• Coordinate with relevant project stakeholders, including government agencies, school authorities, community stakeholders, vendors and partners, secure necessary permissions, provide updates on project activities and ensure smooth coordination.
• Support the recruitment, orientation and management of the project implementation team.
• Closely monitor and coordinate the work of project team members to support effective implementation.
• Ensure financial and programmatic efficiency in all project activities in accordance with SOPs and strategies determined by United Way Mumbai.
• Support the achievement of project deliverables and assessment of project impact.
• Ensure financial and programmatic reporting is completed as per required formats and timelines.
• Ensure regular updates to and smooth coordination with the United Way Mumbai team.

Profile Requisites

• Master s degree in Social Sciences/ Education (specialization in Education will be preferred).
• Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience- especially in project design, on-ground
• implementation of the project, etc. Any background or experience working in the field of
• education or working with youth will be preferred.
• A dynamic and versatile person who can easily connect and effectively work with internal
• and external stakeholders of the project.
• Candidate must have managed a team of 7-10 members in their previous role.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Efficient in community outreach and mobilization.
• Must be efficient in communicating in English and Telugu.
• Candidate must be a team player willing to travel to implement programme activities.

Remuneration - Subject to relevant qualification, experience merit; the consultancy fees range is 35000 to 45000 per month.
