Job summary

PATH is seeking a Program Coordinator for Climate-Health work in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The role involves liaising with state- and city-level officials to develop Heat-Health protocols and provide on-the-ground support to the CxH team.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in public health or related field with 2+ years in public health program planning, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, preferably with INGOs or government bodies in India.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health/ environment/ urban planning preferred.
• At least 2 years of public health program planning and implementation experience.
• Experience in similar roles, primary healthcare, or urban health settings is desirable.
• Technical knowledge and field experience in planning public health programs.
• Experience with INGOs in health sector and/or Ministries of Health is preferable.
• Familiarity with Indian public health system and NHM, Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centres, PM-ABHIM, XV-FC, etc.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment of community participants for IDIs and FGDs.
• Assist in field visits and engage stakeholders to inform project activities.

• Provide field-level insights into climate change impacts on health.
• Assist in organizing meetings and workshops and maintain project documentation.

About the position

PATH is seeking a Program Coordinator for Climate-Health work in Mumbai, Maharashtra. They will work closely with state- and city-level officials (including health and non-health departments such as Urban Development, Environment, Disaster Management and others) to liaise, coordinate, and gain technical inputs to develop the Heat-Health protocols for Mumbai. They will provide day-to-day on-the-ground support to the CxH team in developing these protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Liaison with health and other relevant department officials to facilitate and guide the development of Heat-Health protocols for Mumbai.
• Coordinate and facilitate the recruitment of community participants for in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs).
• Assist in conducting field visits and engaging with key stakeholders to gather insights and inform project activities.
• Support the identification and acquisition of data related to climate stressors and public health outcomes in Mumbai.
• Contribute to the identification of climate stressors and the definition of climate-health hazards in Mumbai.
• Provide technical expertise and field-level insights into the impacts of climate change on health outcomes in Mumbai.
• Assist in organising meetings and workshops, offering both technical and administrative support to ensure project milestones are met and project documentation is effectively maintained.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health/ environment/ urban planning preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in the public health sector focusing on planning and implementation of public health programs and research.
• Prior experience working in similar roles, primary healthcare, or urban health settings is desirable
• Technical knowledge and field experience in planning and implementation of public health programs
• Experience with INGOs in the health sector and/ or Ministries of Health, and government is preferable.

Familiarity with the Indian public health system, flagship initiatives in the health sector, and relevant government policies/ strategies, particularly NHM, Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centres, PM-ABHIM, XV-FC, etc.

Skills/ Abilities

• Self-starter and committed to performing their duties with a high degree of autonomy and independence in line with project goals and objectives.
• Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Hindi
• Direct experience of independently liaising with government health functionaries, district-level administrators, and other development partners.
• Data analysis, data visualisation, and analytical thinking skills
• Strong coordination skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate in a matrix organisational structure.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-site team-based organisational structure, including partners and other collaborators.
• Computer proficiency with a high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Web surfing to search for relevant data & documents
