Job summary

YRG in Bengaluru is seeking a Program Associate to oversee project implementation related to the Urban Ecosystem Against Future Disease Threats. This role involves coordination with stakeholders, preparation of documentation, and support for project activities in Karnataka.

Program Associate - Karnataka

Project Overview

YRGMERF is anticipating a project to strengthen the Urban Ecosystem Against Future Disease Threats by implementing a framework for urban‑peri‑urban coordination. This project will require a team of positions to support the coordination, implementation and monitoring of several components.

Key Responsibilities

The Program Associate will be responsible for supporting the project activities in coordination with stakeholders, reporting to the City Coordinator based in Bengaluru, and working closely with other team members.

Project Implementation Support
  • Ensure that staff are oriented on their duties and provided necessary guidance to carry out day‑to‑day tasks, reporting in designated formats.
  • Ensure that the baseline using secondary sources is completed on time and the report is prepared.
  • Ensure the monthly deliverables are compiled in coordination with project staff, supporting the preparation of technical briefs by designing them, reviewing their contents and languages, and supporting translation if required.
  • Ensure field visit reports are compiled in a timely manner, shared with the city coordinator and project lead for review, final submission, and archiving.
  • Ensure that review meetings, stakeholder meetings, and online discussions are reported and reviewed for final sharing.
  • Support field documentation, testimonial videos, and other documentation‑related work by planning them in advance, ensuring the plan is consulted with stakeholders and donors, supporting procurement and orientation of resources, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly workplans in coordination with the field team, ensuring monitoring of progress and regular weekly updates with the State and National team.
  • Ensure preparation of required documents for submission to stakeholders and donors.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Ensure that the innovation and best practices framework is prepared and discussed with the donor, orienting staff on these frameworks so they can document and share for review at the State and National level, with targets worked out with the team.
  • Ensure that the various deliverables of the project are shared with relevant team members and subject experts in a timely manner and are finally reviewed at State and National level before submission to the donor.
  • Participate in field visits, and if required support the preparation of tools that capture the project essence beyond data and figures.
Additional Duties
  • Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor in support of project objectives.
Desirable Attributes
  • Good understanding of disease surveillance and One Health activities.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work with senior and experienced subject experts.
  • Knowledge of latest tools for designing case studies, testimonial videos, and other AV products.
  • Understanding of Karnataka Health Systems is mandatory.
  • Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team and manage time for multiple tasks.
Qualifications And Experience

Masters in Social Studies or Population Studies with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing documentation and project management in Karnataka under NUHM, Urban Health, Disease Surveillance, One Health Activities, and National Vector Borne Control Program. Preference will be given to local candidates who understand and have worked in Karnataka Health Systems.
