Job summary

Saini Electrical in Maharashtra, Butibori, seeks a seasoned Production Engineer to lead bogie fabrication and assembly for Railway, Metro, and Vande Bharat projects, and to support NPD with jig/fixture development and process validation.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in bogie fabrication / railway structure fabrication / rolling stock manufacturing.
  • Experience in fabrication and assembly of Railway, Metro, and Vande Bharat bogies preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, fit‑up, dimensional control, and fabrication sequences.
  • Experience in development and use of jigs, fixtures, welding fixtures, and checking fixtures.
  • Practical exposure to NPD, prototype development, process trials, and productionization.
  • Knowledge of fabrication drawings, GD&T, BOM, process sheets, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IRIS / ISO 22163 requirements.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, RCA, CAPA, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong manpower management and shop‑floor leadership capabilities.
  • Good coordination and communication skills with Design, NPD, Quality, PPC, and other cross‑functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/SAP and PPC techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and control day-to-day bogie fabrication and assembly activities.
  • Manage fabrication of bogie/wheels structures and assemblies for Railways, Metros, and Vande Bharat applications.
  • Ensure production as per approved drawings, welding procedures, process plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Achieve production targets while ensuring quality, delivery, productivity, safety, and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate with NPD, Design, Engineering, PPC, Quality, Welding, Maintenance, Stores, and Purchase for smooth execution of projects.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) from prototype development through process stabilization and regular production.
  • Coordinate development and validation of jigs, fixtures, welding fixtures, checking fixtures, and other production aids required for new products.
  • Review drawings and manufacturing requirements and provide inputs for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and process improvement.
  • Conduct and monitor fabrication trials, prototype builds, first-off production, and process validation.
  • Establish and optimize fabrication sequences, welding processes, cycle times, manpower requirements, and workstation layouts.
  • Ensure proper implementation of WPS, PQR, welding parameters, work instructions, control plans, and SOPs, wherever applicable.
  • Monitor weld quality, dimensional accuracy, distortion, fit‑up, rework, and rejection and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead RCA, CAPA, Kaizen, productivity improvement, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure availability and proper utilization of welding machines, fixtures, tools, gauges, consumables, and manpower.
  • Ensure proper identification, traceability, and documentation of bogie components and assemblies.
  • Monitor production KPIs including plan achievement, productivity, rejection, rework, cycle time, downtime, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and IRIS / ISO 22163 requirements applicable to production and NPD activities.
  • Support internal, customer, certification, and surveillance audits and ensure timely closure of observations/non‑conformities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, 5S, PPE, welding safety, housekeeping, and statutory requirements.
  • Lead and develop production engineers, supervisors, welders, fabricators, fitters, and technicians.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly production and NPD MIS.

Job description

Role Purpose
