The Production Head for the Refurbishment Unit will beresponsible for leading and managing the entire production process, ensuringthe efficient refurbishment of pre-owned two-wheelers in accordance withquality standards and timelines. This role requires a hands-on leader with astrong background in production management, quality control, and teamleadership — someone who can track plan vs. actual performance, proactivelyidentify bottlenecks and floor-level problems, assess and build manpowercapability, and work alongside the Workshop Manager to keep attrition undercontrol.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning
- Developand implement production schedules to meet refurbishment targets.
- Trackplan vs. actual production on a regular (daily/weekly) basis and drivecorrective action to close gaps.
- Collaboratewith other departments to ensure seamless coordination of resources.
2. Quality Control
- Establishand enforce quality control standards for the refurbishment process.
- Implementrigorous inspection processes to ensure the highest quality of refurbishedproducts.
- Lead,mentor, and motivate a team of technicians, and support staff.
- Foster aculture of continuous improvement and accountability within the productionteam.
- Assessmanpower ability and skill levels on an ongoing basis; identify capability gapsand high performers.
- Workclosely with the Workshop Manager to monitor and manage attrition on the shopfloor, including retention and engagement initiatives.
4. Operational Efficiency
- Identifyand implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce turnaroundtime.
- Monitorand analyse key performance indicators to optimize production processes.
- Proactivelywalk the production floor to identify bottlenecks and operational problemsbefore they impact output.
- Diagnoseroot causes of recurring floor issues (delays, rework, part shortages, workflowgaps) and implement fixes.
5. Inventory Management
- Overseeinventory levels of spare parts and materials required for refurbishment.
- Coordinatewith procurement to ensure timely availability of the required components.
6. Health and Safety Compliance
- Ensurestrict adherence to safety protocols and regulations within the refurbishmentunit.
- Conductregular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
7. Training and Development:
- Identifytraining needs and opportunities for skill development within the productionteam.
- Conducttraining sessions to enhance the technical capabilities of team members.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Bachelor'sdegree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Provenminimum 13 - 18 years of experience in production management, preferably in theautomotive or refurbishment industry.
- Abilityto track plan vs. actual production data and drive corrective action on gaps.
- Provenability to identify bottlenecks and resolve floor-level production problemsfirsthand.
- Experiencein manpower capability/ability assessment and structured training delivery.
