Job description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Production Planning & Material Planning Engineer/Executive to manage production planning, material planning, inventory control, and coordination across manufacturing, stores, procurement, and supply chain functions. The role will be responsible for ensuring timely availability of materials, effective production scheduling, inventory optimization, ERP/MRP management, and adherence to quality and ISO standards within a Wind Turbine Generator manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control (PPC)

• Prepare and monitor monthly, weekly, and daily production plans based on customer demand and sales forecasts.
• Develop production schedules to ensure timely completion of manufacturing orders.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, Procurement, and Logistics teams to achieve production targets.
• Monitor production progress and initiate corrective actions to avoid delays and bottlenecks.
• Analyze production capacity, machine utilization, and resource availability for effective planning.
• Track production KPIs and generate MIS reports for management review.

Material Planning & MRP

• Perform Material Requirement Planning (MRP) based on production schedules, BOMs, and inventory levels.
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials, bought-out components, and consumables.
• Plan replenishment activities to prevent stockouts while maintaining optimum inventory levels.
• Review and update material master data, lead times, and planning parameters in ERP systems.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Stores teams for timely material availability.

Demand Forecasting

• Analyze historical consumption patterns, customer requirements, and production forecasts.
• Develop demand forecasts to support procurement and inventory planning activities.
• Identify risks associated with material shortages and excess inventory.

Inventory & Stores Management

• Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory control measures.
• Ensure optimum stock levels through proper planning and coordination.
• Reduce excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
• Conduct regular inventory reviews and support physical stock verification activities.
• Coordinate cycle counts and annual inventory audits.

Stores Operations

• Oversee material receipt, storage, preservation, and issue processes.
• Ensure proper inventory transactions and documentation in ERP systems.
• Monitor FIFO/FEFO practices and inventory accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with established stores procedures and material handling standards.
• Coordinate with production teams for uninterrupted material supply.

Procurement Coordination

• Liaise with Procurement teams for timely release and follow-up of purchase orders.
• Track supplier commitments and expedite critical materials.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and material availability.
• Support vendor development initiatives and procurement planning activities.

ERP/MRP Systems Management

• Maintain and update production and material planning data in ERP/MRP systems.
• Ensure accuracy of BOMs, inventory records, production orders, and planning parameters.
• Generate reports and analytics to support decision-making.
• Participate in ERP process improvements and system optimization initiatives.

Material Tracking & Supply Chain Coordination

• Track material movement from procurement through production to final dispatch.
• Monitor critical material shortages and coordinate resolution with stakeholders.
• Ensure timely availability of materials for production requirements.
• Drive inventory visibility and material traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

ISO & Audit Compliance

• Maintain documentation related to production planning, inventory management, and material control processes.
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 1401, ISO 45001, customer, and internal audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with documented procedures, SOPs, and quality standards.
• Participate in corrective and preventive action implementation for audit observations.
