Job summary

ERDE Energy in Faridabad, India, seeks an experienced automotive testing and homologation engineer to lead ICAT-based type approvals and validation programs. You will coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with AIS, ISO, and CE-related standards across light, heavy, and off-highway vehicles.

The role covers developing validation plans, test strategies, engine/pump sign-off, PEMS and FTP testing, and data analysis using eDAQ, CAN tools, Eltek, and Dewesoft.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in product testing, validation, homologation, or automotive engineering.
• BE/B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
• Experience in automotive, EVs, off-highway equipment, agricultural machinery, or construction equipment vehicles.
• Hands-on experience with ICAT homologation and type approval processes.
• Knowledge of AIS standards, vehicle validation, and regulatory certification requirements.
• Experience with engine and pump testing, powertrain and hydraulic systems, and vehicle performance evaluation.
• Familiarity with PEMS testing, power loss measurement, full-throttle performance testing, and stability/load chart testing.
• Experience with eDAQ, CAN tools, Eltek, and Dewesoft or similar data acquisition and testing systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams and manage testing activities independently.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Homologation & Regulatory Compliance

• Lead end-to-end homologation and type approval processes through ICAT in accordance with applicable AIS standards.
• Manage prototype validation and homologation for light and heavy commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, and off-highway equipment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable CEV Stage V emission requirements and relevant regulatory standards.
• Coordinate certification activities, including CE certification for noise testing in accordance with the 2000/14/EC Directive and applicable ISO standards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant automotive, machinery, safety, and performance standards.

2. Product Testing & Validation

• Develop Design Validation Plans (DVPs) in coordination with design leads to ensure comprehensive test coverage for new prototype builds.
• Develop test plans and validation strategies for new and existing products based on technical requirements and specifications.
• Conduct engine sign-off and pump sign-off testing.
• Perform PEMS testing, power loss measurement, and full-throttle performance (FTP) testing, as applicable.
• Conduct powertrain, hydraulic system, stability, and load chart testing.
• Set up and maintain test environments, including hardware, software, instrumentation, and test fixtures.

3. Testing Instrumentation & Data Analysis

• Use eDAQ, CAN tools, Eltek, and Dewesoft for vehicle performance measurement, data acquisition, and logging.
• Collect, process, and analyze test data to evaluate product performance and compliance.
• Document test results and prepare technical reports highlighting defects, trends, deviations, and root causes.
• Develop automated test scripts and frameworks to improve testing efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.

4. Design Review & Failure Analysis

• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback from a testing and validation perspective.
• Support failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective and preventive action processes.
• Coordinate with design, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to resolve product performance and validation issues.
• Ensure testing activities are completed according to defined plans, specifications, and quality requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

• 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in product testing, validation, homologation, or automotive engineering.
• B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
