Job summary

Eaton Group in Pune, India seeks an experienced Electrical R&D Test Engineer to support automotive powertrain testing. You will set up, run and optimize tests for transmissions, hydraulics, engines, and related components, ensuring high quality results for engineering teams.

You will coordinate with technicians, implement improvements, and drive lab safety and data accuracy while aligning with ISO/IATF standards. A hands-on profile with familiarity in LEAN practices is preferred.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering with 5-8 years of hands-on electrical R&D testing experience.
• Experience in LV/MV switchgear Powertrain R&D testing is desirable; knowledge of sensors and DAQ systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform tests for Automotive Powertrain including transmission, hydraulic systems; engines, clutch & differential experience a plus.
• Complete test requests with minimal downtime.
• Implement corrective actions to test setups per lab procedures or test requests.
• Communicate test programs and results to engineering.
• Take ownership of small projects and develop fixtures.
• Maintain liaison with technicians to standardize lab practices and ensure safety.
• Standardize lab practices across groups to ensure high quality and efficiency.
• Keep the test lab clean and safe for customer visits and improve lab presentation.
• Strive to meet lab performance targets and ISO/IATF compliance.

Job description

What you’ll do:

Requirement of this position is to perform testing and provide assistance to engineering personnel to set up, install and on-time completion of accurate product testing in accordance with specific test procedures as defined by the product engineering function at Mobility Group engineering divisions globally.

• a) Perform test setups in completion of specific and standard test processes for Automotive Powertrain i.e. Preferably Transmission, hydraulic systems and experience in engines, clutch & differential will be added advantage
• b) Complete test requests according to specified test requests with minimal down time
• c) Implementation of corrective action to test setups as required by established lab procedures or test requests, or when performance falls below acceptable limits
• d) Communicate test programs with engineering appropriately to clarify purpose of testing and the results of ongoing tests
• e) Take ownership of small projects, develop custom fixtures & continuously improve their skill set
• f) Maintain close liaison with other technicians to standardize lab practices within groups and with other groups in facility to ensure a safe working environment
• g) Maintain close liaison with other technicians to standardize lab practices within product groups and with other groups to complete test projects with a high degree of quality and efficiency
• h) Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the test lab that is a showpiece for customer visits. Continually work to improve the presentation of the lab for this purpose
• i) Strive to meet test lab performance targets established in Balanced Score Card and ensure ISO/ IATF compliance

Qualifications:

• BE/BTech Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-8 Years of experience in relevant hands-on experience in Electrical R&D Testing

Skills:

• Experience in LV/MV Switchgear Powertrain R&D testing is most desirable. Preferably in GFCI, Dimmer, Sensors, USB Receptable and LED.
• Performing Electrical, Overload, Dielectric Test and basic Functional Test
• Awareness of testing i.e. test rigs, data acquisition, inspection etc.
• Awareness and experience in following Safety & Quality Management Practices
• Experience on fault identification and proposing corrective actions
• Clear understanding about sensors, electronic components of DAQ & control software i.e. LabVIEW etc.
• Past experience in problem solving & continuous improvement through LEAN tool deployment for test equipment utilization and cost savings
