Job summary

Airtel Digital is seeking a passionate, data-driven Senior Product Manager to lead the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) and utility payments portfolio within the Airtel Thanks App and Airtel Payments Bank.

You will define and execute a visionary strategy to scale the bill payments ecosystem, driving adoption, seamless user experiences, and industry-leading transaction success rates, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience in Product Management, 5+ years with 2-3 years in Fintech/Payments/Banking platforms.
• Deep understanding of Indian payment ecosystem, BBPS, NPCI guidelines, and settlement recon processes.

Responsibilities

• Define the Roadmap for BBPS and utility payments across Airtel Thanks App and Airtel Payments Bank.
• Conduct market research on fintech trends, competitor strategies, and new biller opportunities.
• Own P&L and key metrics (TPV, active transacting users, transaction success rates).
• Drive end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to deployment.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Analytics, CE, and Network teams for scalable API integrations with NPCI and BBPOUs.
• Partner with NPCI, biller partners, and financial institutions to ensure regulatory compliance.

We are looking for a passionate, data-driven Senior Product Manager to lead our Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) and utility payments portfolio.

In this role, you will define and execute a visionary strategy to scale our bill payments ecosystem, driving adoption, seamless user experiences, and industry-leading transaction success rates.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Define the Roadmap: Set the product vision and strategy for Airtel’s BBPS and utility payments ecosystem across the Airtel Thanks App and Airtel Payments Bank.
• Market Analysis: Conduct continuous market research to identify emerging trends in the Indian fintech space, competitor strategies, and new biller category opportunities.
• Business Impact: Own the P&L and key business metrics for the BBPS portfolio, including Total Payment Volume (TPV), active transacting users, and transaction success rates.

2. Product Development & Execution

• End-to-End Lifecycle: Drive the full product lifecycle from ideation and PRD creation to development, testing, and deployment.
• Agile Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Design, Analytics, Customer Experience (CE), and Network teams, to deliver high-quality digital solutions with high velocity.
• Platform & API Architecture: Collaborate with engineering architects to build scalable, highly available API integrations with NPCI and BBPOUs.

3. Ecosystem & Stakeholder Management

• Partner Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders including NPCI, biller partners, and financial institutions to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth operational workflows.
• Grievance Management: Design and optimize automated dispute resolution and refund mechanisms in accordance with BBPS guidelines to ensure zero customer friction.
• GTM Strategy: Collaborate with Marketing and Growth teams to design product positioning, promotional campaigns, and launch strategies to drive BBPS adoption.
• Data-Driven Optimization: Analyze user funnels, payment failure drop-offs, and customer feedback to continuously optimize the checkout experience and drive repeat transactions.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Experience & Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of core Product Management experience, with at least 2-3 years specifically in Fintech, Payments, or Banking platforms.
• Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the Indian payment ecosystem, specifically BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System), NPCI guidelines, and settlement recon processes.
• Technical Acumen: Ability to understand technical complexity (APIs, microservices architecture, system integration) without developer inputs, and make the right technical trade-offs.
• Analytical Rigor: Strong proficiency with product analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Clevertap, Google Analytics) and the ability to leverage SQL/data to drive decision-making.
• Communication: Exceptional storytelling and evangelism skills to influence CXOs, senior leadership, and external partners.
