Job summary

Rijk Zwaan India Commercial Team seeks a Product Development Specialist to grow the market for our vegetable seeds in Maharashtra. You will meet growers, provide agronomic advice, recommend varieties for local markets, and drive trials, events and visits to support adoption.

You will forecast sales based on customer needs, collaborate with Regional Sales Managers and Crop Specialists, and travel locally and abroad as required. Fluent English is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture or horticulture.
• 8–12 years of experience in seed companies; vegetable seed experience preferred.
• Experience in sales or marketing.
• Based in Maharashtra and willing to travel locally and abroad.
• Fluent English required.

Responsibilities

• Develop the market for Rijk Zwaan crops through trials, events and grower visits.
• Provide agronomic advice and recommend varieties suited to the local market.
• Prepare sales forecasts based on customer requirements and long‑term planning.
• Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers, Crop Specialists and other teams.

How does your job as Product Development Specialist at Rijk Zwaan look like?

Within this role, you will be responsible for developing the market for Rijk Zwaan crops, searching for new business opportunities. You will meet with customers and give professional agronomic advice, make recommendations for variety choice for the market as well as introduce new varieties to growers in the state of Maharashtra through trials, events and frequent visits.

Within this role, you will also make the sales forecast based on customers' requirements and long term planning for the state. Thorough knowledge of variety assortment is essential. Furthermore, you will work in close cooperation with Regional Sales Managers, Crop Specialists, Trial Specialists, Chain Managers and Product Promotion Officers.

Your contribution:

You are a fair and trustworthy person with high principles of ethics. You have strong analytical skills and you like to make suggestions for crop improvement. You take initiative easily and you have a commercial and client-focused approach. You are enthusiastic about horticulture and you keep track of the latest developments in this industry. You are a good communicator and you are motivated to help growers. As you will be working within international environment, fluent English is important.

You are based in Maharashtra and you are willing to travel locally and abroad. You are an independent self-starter.
