Job summary

Accenture Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Data Strategy Counsel to lead legal risk assessments around data usage and data products. You will collaborate with global teams to evaluate data risks and enable responsible data-driven offerings.

The role requires deep knowledge of data privacy, IP, and technology transactions, with leadership responsibilities across multiple time zones and a focus on GenAI governance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support development and launch of data-driven products.
• Develop guidance, templates and trainings on data rights and terms for GTM and development teams.
• Lead and mentor junior Data Strategy legal team members across time zones.
• Support data-led acquisitions and joint ventures as required by Data Strategy Legal Lead.
• Support GenAI/AI tool design and processes to enhance daily work and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform risk assessments on data usage and data products, including regulatory, industry, contractual, strategic and other considerations, and provide practical legal risk analyses, operational and contractual risk mitigation strategies, to enable responsible and sustainable data usage and data products, for use with internal or client facing technologies or services.
• Work with Business teams and legal SMEs to evaluate data risks in assets, platforms and offerings / solutions.
• Support development and launch of products that make productive use of data.
• Develop clear communication messages, guidance, templates and trainings regarding the data use rights, data products, and data related terms in inbound and outbound agreements, for go to market teams, development teams and the rest of the Legal organization.
• Lead and mentor junior Data Strategy legal team members in growing their skills, relationships and careers.
• Support data-led acquisitions, joint ventures, and other special projects as required by Data Strategy Legal Lead or Legal Leadership.
• Support design and implementation of GenAI/AI tools and processes to enhance daily work, request management, legal risk assessments and collaboration with business and other Legal colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience, in a law firm or as in-house counsel for a global technology company; advising on matters regarding data usage, data products, internal data governance, agentic technology, GenAI/AI models, Saas, Paas, cloud or software.
• Passion for supporting business teams in taking innovative technology and services to market; and willingness to grow in new areas.
• Fluency in English with strong oral and written communications skills.
• Experience of working with international teams in a global business. Open to work with and understand cross-cultures throughout the Accenture global organization
• Team management experience, including leading, mentoring and training of junior team members, located across multiple time zones.
• Desire to contribute to tech enablement of legal, including exploring the capacity and implementation of legal agents.
• Individual achiever that can operate with minimal oversight and direction.
• Track record of developing trusted relationships with business leaders.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changes in business strategies.
• High degree of organization with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
• Technology transactional experience either in drafting and negotiating technology focused client‑facing (i.e. data licensing, software as a service agreements, cloud, software license agreements, or software development agreements).
• Working knowledge of: (a) data privacy regulations; (b) data governance considerations; (c) IP law; and (d) general product development considerations. Understanding connection between in-bound agreements and client‑facing agreements.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), including CoPilot.
