Job summary

Kissht in Mumbai is seeking a Product Analyst – Payments to partner with Product, Engineering and Operations to analyze payment journeys, identify gaps, and translate findings into actionable requirements.

You will handle large datasets, SQL, payment transactions, dashboards and APIs, driving data-driven improvements across payment flows and partner ecosystems. The role involves collaborating with external partners and internal teams to elevate conversions and reduce failures.

Job description

As a Product Analyst – Payments, you will work closely with Product, Engineering, Operations and external payment partners to analyze payment journeys, identify product and process gaps, define requirements, and drive improvements. The role requires someone who is comfortable working with large datasets, SQL, payment transactions, APIs, dashboards, and business processes, while also being able to translate analysis into actionable product requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Payments Product Analytics

• Analyze end-to-end payment journeys across customer payment modes and channels.
• Track payment success, failure, pending, reversal, refund, and reconciliation scenarios.
• Identify payment drop-offs, failure patterns, operational issues, and revenue/collection opportunities.
• Perform root-cause analysis of payment-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyze payment behaviour across different customer segments, products, financiers, payment modes, and payment partners.

2. Product Requirement & Development

• Work with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business problems into product requirements.
• Create PRDs, user stories, functional requirements, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
• Work closely with Engineering and QA teams during development and testing.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, UAT, and release validation.
• Ensure product changes are validated against expected business outcomes.

3. Data & SQL Analysis

• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and analyze payment data.
• Analyze large transaction datasets and identify trends, anomalies, and exceptions.
• Create and maintain dashboards and reports for key payment metrics.
• Use tools such as Snowflake, Metabase or similar BI platforms.

4. Payment Partner Management

• Analyze performance of payment gateways, banks, NACH partners, and other payment service providers.
• Support investigation of partner-specific payment issues.
• Work with internal teams and external partners to drive resolution of recurring issues.

What Were Looking For:

Must Have

• 1–3 years of experience in Product Analytics, Business Analytics, Product Management, Payments, Fintech, Banking, or a related domain.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Understanding of payment flows and transaction lifecycles.
• Ability to independently investigate data and identify root causes.
• Strong understanding of metrics, dashboards, and data-driven decision making.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to convert business problems into structured product requirements.

Good to Have

• Experience in Fintech, Digital Lending, NBFC, Banking, or Payments.
• Knowledge of UPI, NACH, e-mandates, payment gateways, cards, net banking, refunds and reconciliation.
• Experience with Snowflake, Metabase, Tableau, Mixpanel, or similar tools.
• Understanding of APIs, webhooks, payment status codes, and asynchronous payment flows.
• Experience working with payment gateways such as Razorpay, Juspay, Cashfree, PayU, etc.
• Understanding of LMS/loan servicing and payment application logic will be an advantage.
• Experience in incident management and RCA documentation.
