Job summary

Principal Financial Group seeks a Process Specialist - Defined Benefits to handle DB processing and related activities with attention to accuracy and compliance. You will work within a collaborative team supporting retirement finance processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in an analytical field and 4–5 years in finance or insurance, including 1.5–2 years in Retirements, preferably US Defined Benefit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an analytical field such as Math, Actuarial Science, or Statistics.
• 1.5–2 years of work experience in Retirements, preferably in the US Defined Benefit area.
• Total of 4–5 years of professional experience in a finance or insurance role.
• Strong mathematical, technical, and analytical skills along with keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform Defined Benefit (DB) processing and/or calculation across assigned subtypes such as quotes, basic benefit events, annuities, and distributions.
• Manage assigned worklists efficiently while adhering to standard processing times.
• Produce high-quality work while consistently following SOPs, compliance guidelines, and audit requirements.
• Support integration of new tools, updated SOPs, or workflow changes.
• Collaborate closely with seniors to understand complex cases and process updates.
• Identify individual learning gaps and proactively request clarification or training when needed.
