About the Role
The Process Innovation Engineer will support establishment, startup and scale-up of the new toothpaste manufacturing facility in India. The role will enable technology transfer from global technical teams, lead manufacturing trials, support equipment and process validation, and build site capability for safe, reliable and consistent operations. Following plant stabilization, the role will transition toward identifying, piloting and implementing process innovation and manufacturing technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design & Engineering Reviews
Participate in design reviews covering mixing, homogenization, powder handling, liquid transfer, storage, cleaning and utility interfaces.
Review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, operating philosophies, SOPs, and technical documentation.
Identify process and operability risks and support closure of design and commissioning actions. - Process Line Testing, Trials & Validation
Plan, lead and document lead-line testing and manufacturing trials for new products, formulations, and process improvements.
Execute or support IQ, OQ, PQ and process validation activities in coordination with Engineering and Quality.
Analyze trial data, identify gaps, and recommend actions to improve product quality, yield, capacity, and process robustness. - Technology Transfer & Commercialization
Support transfer of toothpaste formulations, process knowledge and manufacturing standards from Global Technical teams to the India site.
Translate laboratory, pilot, and existing manufacturing learnings into robust plant operating processes.
Support scale-up and commercialization of new products, formulations, and process changes. - Plant Startup & Commissioning
Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and performance verification of new process equipment and production lines.
Assist in establishing operating ranges, process controls, and startup procedures during plant ramp-up.
Work with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to resolve process-related startup issues. - Process Learning & Capability Building
Develop strong end-to-end understanding of toothpaste manufacturing, from raw-material handling through mixing, homogenization, storage, transfer, cleaning and filling interfaces.
Prepare operating procedures, technical guides, and training materials for the new plant.
Train and coach operators, technicians and engineers on process fundamentals, equipment operation, troubleshooting and best practices. - Cross-Functional Support
Collaborate with Global Technical, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, R&D and Supply Chain teams.
Support root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement during startup and routine production.
Maintain clear trial, validation, and technical transfer documentation. - Technology Implementation & Post-Startup Innovation
Identify and evaluate new process technologies, automation opportunities and manufacturing solutions that improve safety, quality, capacity, cost, and sustainability.
Develop business and technical justification for selected initiatives, including trial objectives, risks, resource needs and expected manufacturing benefits.
Plan and lead pilot trials, proof-of-concept studies, and controlled plant implementation of approved technologies.
Coordinate implementation with Global Technical, Engineering, Digital, Quality, Operations, R&D and external technology partners.
Establish performance baselines, monitor results, and confirm that implemented solutions deliver the intended process and business outcomes.
After plant startup and stabilization, transition from commissioning support to ownership and delivery of the site process innovation project portfolio.
Capture learning, standardize successful solutions and support replication across other products, lines or manufacturing sites where applicable.
