About the Role
The Process Operator will safely and efficiently operate toothpaste manufacturing processes at the new India facility. The role will support commissioning, validation, technology transfer and production ramp-up while developing end-to-end process expertise. Based on demonstrated capability and performance, the role will progressively transition to Lead Process Operator, with responsibility for shift-level process leadership, equipment reliability, operator capability and OEE improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Startup & Commissioning
- Support commissioning, startup and stabilization of new manufacturing equipment and process lines.
- Participate in equipment trials, commissioning checks, IQ/OQ/PQ and process validation activities.
- Assist Engineering and Technical teams in establishing standard operating parameters and resolving startup issues.
- Manufacturing Operations
- Operate mixing, homogenization, powder handling, storage, transfer and cleaning systems according to approved procedures.
- Monitor critical process parameters and execute batch manufacturing safely, efficiently and consistently.
- Perform cleaning, changeover, line-clearance and material-handling activities in accordance with site requirements.
- Maintain accurate batch, equipment and process records.
- Process Trials & Technology Transfer
- Support manufacturing trials, product transfers, scale-up and commercialization activities.
- Record trial data, process observations, deviations and equipment performance accurately.
- Work with Technical, Quality and Engineering teams during validation and implementation of new processes.
- Safety & Quality Compliance
- Follow site safety, GMP, quality, hygiene and housekeeping requirements.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, process deviations and equipment abnormalities promptly.
- Support investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Autonomous Maintenance & Equipment Care
- Perform routine equipment inspection, cleaning, lubrication, tightening and basic maintenance within defined operator responsibilities.
- Identify early signs of equipment deterioration, leakage, abnormal vibration, noise, temperature, or other reliability concerns.
- Support preventive maintenance, breakdown restoration and planned shutdown activities with Maintenance and Engineering.
- Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and production-ready condition.
- OEE Improvement & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor losses affecting OEE across availability, performance and quality.
- Support reduction of breakdowns, minor stops, speed losses, changeover time, process waste and quality defects.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and shop-floor problem solving for downtime and process losses.
- Contribute to TPM, Lean, yield improvement, cycle-time reduction and productivity initiatives.
- Capability Development
- Develop end-to-end understanding of toothpaste manufacturing and associated equipment.
- Complete required process, safety, quality and equipment-operation training and certification.
- Build troubleshooting capability and share operating learnings with other team members.
Qualification and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Production Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in FMCG, Consumer healthcare, food, pharmaceutical, Personal care, pr other high- speed manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience in process equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and line performance improvement.
- Experience supporting TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives is preferred,
Required Skills & Competencies
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and batch process operations.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and first-level troubleshooting capability.
- Understanding of process safety, GMP, quality and documentation requirements.
- Awareness of OEE, downtime analysis, yield, waste and productivity measures.
