Job summary

Haleon is seeking a Packaging Innovation Project Engineer to support concept-to-commercialization for packaging improvements. You will coordinate trials, commissioning, startup, and handover with diverse teams to deliver projects on time.

Role requires evaluating packaging material changes, optimizing equipment readiness, and driving OEE improvements while ensuring GMP, quality, and safety compliance across packaging formats.

Qualifications

  • Ability to assess the impact of packaging-material and packaging-format changes on manufacturing operations and packaging equipment.
  • Good understanding of OEE, manufacturing losses, and structured loss-reduction techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance and Proactive/Professional Maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate packaging-innovation projects from concept to commercialization; coordinate trials, commissioning, start-up and handover with R&D, Packaging Development, Engineering, Operations and suppliers.
  • Assess the impact of packaging changes on equipment, tooling, utilities and line performance; implement equipment modifications and engineering changes.
  • Monitor equipment performance and losses; drive OEE improvements and apply root-cause analysis to improve reliability and performance.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, OEMs, contractors and internal stakeholders; support FAT, SAT, trials and technical acceptance activities.
  • Ensure GMP, quality, safety and data integrity; participate in risk assessments, change control and audits.

About the Role

To support the implementation of packaging innovation projects from concept through commercialization, including packaging-change assessment, trials, commissioning, and operational handover. The role ensures packaging innovations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with GMP, Quality, EHS, and engineering requirements while maintaining packaging-line performance. It also drives the evaluation and implementation of innovative packaging technologies and sustainable solutions across tubes, caps, shippers, and other packaging formats to support business growth, operational excellence, and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 1. Packaging Innovation Project Execution Support packaging innovation projects from concept to commercialization. Coordinate trials, commissioning, start-up, and implementation activities. Work with R&D, Packaging Development, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and suppliers to deliver projects on time. Review equipment layouts, installation requirements, and project risks using AutoCAD or similar tools. Identify and evaluate emerging packaging technologies, innovative packaging concepts, and industry best practices to support future business needs.
  • 2. Packaging Equipment & Process Assessment Assess the impact of packaging changes on equipment, tooling, utilities, and line performance. Identify and implement required equipment modifications, format parts, and engineering changes. Evaluate manufacturing readiness and equipment capability for new packaging materials, components, and formats. Support qualification, validation, and change-control activities.
  • 3. Operations, OEE & Continuous Improvement Support trials and commercialization while maintaining operational efficiency. Monitor equipment performance, analyses losses, and drive OEE improvements. Apply root-cause analysis and corrective actions to improve reliability and performance. Support Autonomous Maintenance and Professional Maintenance practices. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce material consumption, and enhance operational sustainability.
  • 4. Supplier & Stakeholder Management Coordinate with suppliers, OEMs, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Review technical proposals, specifications, layouts, and equipment solutions. Collaborate with packaging-material suppliers and technology partners to evaluate innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. Support FAT, SAT, trials, and technical acceptance activities. Maintain effective communication throughout project execution, commissioning, and handover.
  • 5. GMP, Quality, EHS & Compliance Ensure compliance with GMP, quality, safety, and data integrity requirements. Participate in risk assessments, commissioning safety reviews, and change control activities. Support machine safety, guarding, interlocks, and energy isolation requirements. Assist in audits, CAPA, investigations, and inspection readiness activities. Escalate any risks impacting safety, quality, compliance, or equipment performance.
  • 6. Key Working Relationships Internal: Packaging Development, R&D, Packaging Lead, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Project Teams. External: Packaging-material suppliers, equipment OEMs, tooling suppliers, consultants, contractors, and system integrators.
Qualification and Experience

B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related core engineering discipline from a reputed institute. 3 - 5 Years of experience in FMCG, Consumer Healthcare, Personal Care, Food, Pharmaceutical, or a similar manufacturing industry is preferred. Experience supporting Packaging Engineering, Packaging Innovation, Project Engineering, Packaging Development Support, or Manufacturing Operations.

Required Skills and Competencies
