Job summary

PolyCycl Private Limited is seeking a senior process engineer to lead core process engineering deliverables, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing for pyrolysis and downstream refining units. You will drive FEED, design for commercial equipment, and support scale-up from pilot to plant.

The role requires hands-on experience with process simulation (HYSYS/ASPEN Plus/ChemCAD), familiarity with ASME/API/ISO standards, and strong leadership to coordinate

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of core process engineering deliverables Mass & Energy Balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing and specifications for pyrolysis and downstream refining units.
• Lead FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and detailed design for commercial equipment, integrate modular skids, and ensure operability.
• Drive process simulation and optimization studies (HYSYS, ASPEN Plus, ChemCAD or equivalent) to improve yield, energy efficiency and plant throughput; prior experience modeling high-temperature reactors and fractionation columns preferred.
• Lead and participate in HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and plant modification reviews to ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Own technical documentation and standards compliance (ASME, API, ISO) across process packages, including protocols such as Cause & Effect Diagrams, QA/QC, SOPs and MSDS.
• Support technology scale-up from pilot to commercial plant, working closely with R&D and mechanical/plant teams, including plant erection, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Lead procurement, vendor engagement, technical bid analysis and contract negotiation for custom-built engineering equipment (furnaces, heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, packed beds, separation systems).
• Apply knowledge of industrial instrumentation (DCS, PLC, Statistical Process Control) to process design and operability.
• Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, plant operations, EHS, procurement) to ensure timely execution of process engineering deliverables.
• Perform literature reviews and author clear scientific and technical documentation.

Candidate Profile

• Strong fundamentals in process engineering: mass & energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, hydraulics/line sizing.
• Hands-on experience with process simulation tools (HYSYS, ASPEN Plus, ChemCAD or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of HAZOP methodology, relief/safety valve calculations, and risk assessment practices.
• Exposure to vendor/licensor document review and technical evaluations.
• Familiarity with international engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO).
• Strong leadership abilities able to lead and motivate teams, set clear goals and expectations, and provide guidance to achieve them.
• Strategic thinking — able to think critically, make strategic decisions, analyse data, assess risks, and develop plans aligned with company goals.
• Documentation skills — able to review and improve protocols and documents, with experience writing scientific/technical documents.
