Qualifications

Job description

RINA is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer to join its office in Mumbai within the Plant Engineering Division.

Mission

The Process Engineer has a background in chemical engineering and a strong understanding of process design, optimization, and safety protocols. The Process Engineer is responsible for developing operating procedures, evaluating process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), and overseeing pre-commissioning, commissioning, and decommissioning activities for energy assets.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop Operating Procedures:
    • Create detailed operating procedures for the chemical and physical processes involved in energy assets.
    • Document step-by-step instructions for equipment operation, material handling, and safety protocols.
    • Ensure operating procedures comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
  • Evaluate Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs):
    • Review and analyze PFDs and PIDs to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
    • Verify that diagrams correctly represent process flows, equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
    • Identify and address any discrepancies or inconsistencies in the diagrams.
  • Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and Decommissioning:
    • Oversee pre-commissioning activities, including equipment testing, inspections, and readiness assessments.
    • Coordinate commissioning procedures, startup activities, and system integration efforts.
    • Manage decommissioning activities, ensuring the safe shutdown and dismantling of equipment and systems.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Monitor and analyze the performance of chemical and physical processes within energy assets.
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings.
    • Implement changes to equipment, procedures, or operating parameters to enhance performance.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards.
    • Develop and implement safety protocols, procedures, and emergency response plans.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and operations personnel.
    • Communicate technical information, project updates, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
    • Coordinate activities, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
Education

Bachelor s Degree in Chemical Engineering

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in process engineering within the energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of process design, optimization, and safety principles.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and engineering tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications preferred.
