Job summary

RINA is recruiting a Power Senior Engineer to join our Delhi office within the Electrical Engineering and Power Systems Division. The role focuses on supporting engineers in designing solutions for power systems, ensuring adherence to time, budget, and quality requirements.

The position involves leading studies and model development for renewable energy integration, and acting as technical lead for substations from 11 kV to 400 kV, including HV/EHV designs in a multinational setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Senior level experience in power systems engineering and leadership.
• Strong understanding of power systems analysis and grid interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead power systems studies including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, dynamic analyses.
• Develop models for renewable energy, transmission and distribution networks.
• Ensure meeting time, budget, and quality requirements; deliver detailed substation design packages (11 kV to 400 kV).
• Provide technical leadership on substation protection and control and coordination.
• Review supplier designs and documentation; participate in FATs and site tests.
• Promote Safety-by-Design across projects and maintain client relationships.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Power Senior Engineer to join its office in Delhi within the Electrical Engineering and Power SystemsDivision.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead on excellence in power systems software packages (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, IPSA, etc.)
• Developing models of renewable energy/ Utility transmission & distribution network in above software.
• Performing electrical power system studies such as Load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, Reactive power compensation analysis, Harmonic analysis, Dynamic analysis etc.
• Performing Grid code compliance studies (Steady state, Power quality & Dynamic studies) for integration of renewable energy to the Grid.
• Transient and insultation coordination simulation studies (switching/lightning);
• Protection and relay coordination
• To build and maintain key client relationships to effectively position power systems services and secure future business;
• Act as technical lead for substation design project deliverables ranging from 11 kV to 400 kV, including HV/EHV air-insulated and gas-insulated substations.
• Perform the role of Lead Project Engineer on assigned projects, as required.
• Produce detailed substation electrical design packages compliant with client and applicable national/international standards (ENA, BS, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, etc.).
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and equipment specifications.
• Develop technical documentation including design reports, scheme evaluations, and presentations, particularly for FEED and concept-stage projects.
• Review supplier designs and documentation, including FAT plans, and attend factory and site acceptance tests as required.
• Maintain compliance with client design management standards, processes, and procedures.
• Undertake technical quality assurance reviews and provide design approval/sign-off for substation Protection and Control (P&C) and/or Primary (physical) design deliverables.
• Drive and embed a Safety-by-Design approach across all projects.
• Promote safety, constructability, operability, and lifecycle performance through application of industry best practices and client standards.
• Support development and continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures, tools, and technical guidance.
• Support development of tender schemes, technical options, and scope documents

Education
