• PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry with practical synthesis experience.
• 5–10 years of practical synthetic chemistry experience.
• Knowledge of lab safety and handling of air/moisture sensitive chemicals.
• Familiarity with literature databases and route design.
• Experience with distillation, crystallization and chromatography.

Responsibilities

• Lead process development and optimization of organic syntheses.
• Scale-up from lab grams to kilograms and tonnes.
• Design multi-step synthetic routes and assess costs.
• Interpret chromatographic data (HPLC, GC, MS, NMR, FTIR).
• Guide junior team members in multistep synthesis.
• Ensure safety practices and compliance in the lab.
• Prepare project presentations and communicate results.

Job Description: Process Development Scientist

Educational qualifications: PhD/ MSc. (Organic Chemistry) with 5 / 10 years of practical synthetic chemistry.

Professional experience:

Knowledge in process development, process optimization, scale up of organic compounds from lab grams scale to kilograms scale to tonnes scale. Good lab safe practices with hands.

Good knowledge in synthetic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, expertise in literature search using various databases, design of synthetic routes, multi-step synthesis, costing of processes.

Knowledge in characterization of reactants, reactions, products and interpretation using chromatographic techniques like HPLC, TLC, GC, MS, NMR, FTIR, Handling of air and moisture sensitive chemicals & reactions.

Knowledge in isolation and purification techniques of organic compounds like distillation, crystallization, chromatographic techniques.

Other desirable technical skills:

Knowledge in using basic spread sheet applications in computer like MS office (word, power point, excel) and Windows.

Softer skills:

Experience in guiding juniors team members in execution of multistep synthesis in parallel.

Commitment to research, compliance, safety.
