Job summary

Red Hat in India seeks a Principal Technical Support Engineer to own performance, availability, and reliability of cloud services and the infrastructure behind them. You will serve as a senior SME, handling complex Linux, containerization, and networking tasks while driving automation efforts.

Responsibilities include leading RCA efforts for incidents, coordinating with customer teams and internal stakeholders, and ensuring rapid escalation and resolution to meet SLAs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Linux administration experience.
• 6+ years of networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, firewalls).
• 6+ years of Kubernetes/OpenStack/Docker experience.
• Strong Python scripting for automation tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

About the Job:

Red Hat is looking for a Principal Technical Support Engineer to join us in India. In this role, you will be responsible for the performance, availability, and reliability of our cloud-based services and underlying infrastructure, acting as a critical technical subject matter expert.

What you will do:

• Manage, troubleshoot, andoptimizecontainerized applications and infrastructure deployed on Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, and OpenStack platforms.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for core cloud infrastructure technologies, including advanced Linux (CentOS) system administration, Docker/Containers, and complex networking configurations.
• Prepare and conduct rigorous Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical incidents toidentifysystemic issues and prevent recurrence.
• Develop, test, andmaintainrobust automation scripts using Python and Ansible to streamline daily operational tasks and improve overall service efficiency.
• Provide end-to-end Escalation, Monitoring, and Emergency (EME) support, acting as a final escalation point to ensure service availability and meet SLAs.
• Liaise directly with customers team and internal teams to understand requirements and deliver tailored technical solutions.

Scheduling:

• A rotational on-call schedule is a mandatory part of this position. On-call expertsare responsible forproviding immediate support for urgent cases, including direct customer contact (via call/Teams) and prompt engagement in designated war rooms for case investigation and resolution.

What you will bring:

• Linux Expertise:6+ years of knowledge and proven hands-on experience with Linux administration.
• Networking Foundations: 6+years of knowledge of core networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, firewalls) in a cloud environment.
• Containerization Virtualization:6+ years of knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration, OpenStack platforms, and Docker/Containerization.
• Scripting and Automation:Solid Python scripting skills for task automation and system management.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal in English) and the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.

One or more certifications from the list below will be considered an added advantage:

Red Hat Certified Specialist in Cloud Infrastructure (EX210),RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) in Red Hat OpenStack (EX310), RHCSA, RHCE, CKA, EX280 (Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration), EX380 (Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Automation and API Management).
