Job summary

Qualifications

• Around 15 years of experience in systems engineering, storage engineering, protocol engineering, or related field.
• Strong expertise in NAS file protocols SMB and NFS.
• Deep understanding of file concepts and storage concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support NAS storage solutions.
• Analyze and resolve issues across file protocol, filesystem, and I/O layers.
• Troubleshoot mounting, authentication, authorization, caching, and performance problems.
• Debug OS, storage, networking, and protocol layer issues.
• Develop utilities and tools using C/C++ and scripting languages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reproduce issues and implement fixes.
• Document findings and recommendations.

In the HPE Hybrid Cloud, we lead the innovation agenda and technology roadmap for all of HPE. This includes managing the design, development, and product portfolio of our next-generation cloud platform, Green Lake. Working with customers, we help them reimagine their information technology needs to deliver a simple, consumable solution that helps them drive their business results. Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

• Design, develop, and support solutions involving NAS file protocols and storage systems.
• Work across file protocol, filesystem, and I/O layers to analyze behavior and resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot problems related to mounting, file sharing, authentication, authorization, caching, failover, and performance.
• Debug complex issues across OS, storage, networking, and protocol layers.
• Perform log analysis, packet analysis, trace analysis, and root cause investigation.
• Develop and maintain low-level utilities, tools, and components using C and C++.
• Improve performance and reliability of storage and file services.
• Support validation and testing for data integrity, scalability, resiliency, and failover.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and support teams to reproduce issues and drive fixes.Build automation and diagnostic tools using scripting languages where needed.
• Document technical findings, troubleshooting steps, and design recommendations.

What You Need To Bring

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics, or a related field.
• Around 15 years of experience in systems engineering, storage engineering, protocol engineering, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in NAS file protocols such as SMB and NFS.
• Deep understanding of file concepts and storage concepts.

Knowledge And Skills

• Strong knowledge of storage systems and file services.
• Hands-on experience with C and C++ programming.
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems, system calls, file systems, and process/thread behavior.
• Experience with debugging, root cause analysis, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed systems.
• Strong analytical mindset, communication skills, ownership, and attention to detail.
• Preferred: experience with SMB/CIFS and NFSv3/NFSv4 internals, performance tuning, stress testing, Wireshark, tcpdump, strace, gdb, Python, Shell, or Perl.
• Preferred: exposure to cloud storage or hybrid storage environments, plus experience in cross-functional product engineering teams.
