Job summary

Moody’s is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead long-range technical strategy and deliver large-scale systems across multiple teams. You will design scalable APIs, guide architecture decisions, and mentor engineers while partnering with product and business stakeholders to maximize value.

You will work in Moody’s Insurance Solutions, advancing cloud-native, containerized platforms with a focus on reliability, observability, and security.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience delivering complex, large-scale, multi-team initiatives.
• Extensive working experience with Microsoft SQL Server: internals, performance at scale, HA/DR architecture, capacity planning.
• Strong expertise in Java, Scala, C#, C++, or Python, with experience building scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, cloud-native technologies, containerized applications, and modern software architecture.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization, scalability, reliability, and security best practices.
• Proven ability to influence technical strategy, lead organizational change, mentor engineering teams, and drive cross-functional alignment.
• Demonstrated commitment to engineering excellence through testing, observability, system health monitoring, and continuous improvement practices.
