At its foundation, SimCorp is guided by our values - caring, customer success-driven, collaborative, curious, and courageous. Our people-centered organization focuses on skills development, relationship building, and client success. We take pride in cultivating an environment where all team members can grow, feel heard, valued, and empowered.

If you like what we're saying, keep reading!

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

As our new Principal Software Engineer, you will join SimCorp's Product Division, a full-scale agile organization. You will be working in an agile team of about 5-7 people. The team works on our SimCorp Dimension product. In your daily work you will - together with your team - understand and challenge customer requirements, discuss solutions, implement and test the chosen solution, and support it. We use a variety of tools, but the main ones are C#, APL and an Oracle database. You will mainly be working with backend and APIs.

The present and near future main topics are good maintainability, high system performance, continuous integration and delivery, and reshaping our product for the cloud.

In addition to implementing customer features, it is essential for us to continuously improve on all levels: company, division, product area, team, and individual. Your daily work life will thus also include topics such as "how can we reduce our build time", "how can we rearchitect this component to perform significantly faster", and "how can we work together in a more fun and effective way".

We encourage your personal development, and you will be able to spend 20% of your time experimenting with new technologies and implementing your ideas.

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join an agile team in Portfolio Analytics Product Area.

We use a multitude of tools and technologies such as Visual Studio, C#, Dyalog APL, Azure DevOps within the areas of development and software configuration management.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

In your daily work, you will - together with your team

  • Provide technical leadership in design, development, and testing.
  • Help explore how AI can improve user experiences, workflows, and engineering productivity.
  • Define and own test architecture and quality strategy at team level.
  • Balance active coding (C#, APL) with guiding automation initiatives
  • Drive adoption of automation-first practices across the team.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery by monitoring coverage, test metrics, and quality KPIs.
  • Mentor and coach engineers in development, automation, and testing skills.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (POs, TLs, architects) to align technical and quality goals.
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis for complex defects and ensure preventive actions
  • Advocate for and implementing improvements in tools, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering processes.
  • Continuously assessing and improving engineering processes, recommending new tools and technologies to enhance productivity and software quality
  • Represent the team in technical forums and contribute to cross-team knowledge exchange.

We expect you to be good at several of the following and are interested in learning the rest.

  • Advanced C# skills and insight into the .NET framework
  • Be able to learn additional technologies (like APL)
  • Experience with developing and integrating middle and backend services and APIs
  • You are interested and able to work within the architecture of an enterprise solution
  • Actively work with improvements relating to tool stack and engineering practices (CI/CD pipelines, test-driven development, telemetry, etc)
  • You have good English skills and thrive in an international work environment
  • You have an M.Sc. in Computer Science or a similar field, or an equivalent level of experience

Practical experience within financial instruments and financial investment systems is of course an advantage, but not a prerequisite for the job. It is more important that you take an interest in learning this field. We will bring you up to speed using technical and domain discussions, training, and a comprehensive onboarding program.

WHAT WE VALUE

Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing and thriving in the position described above. How you gained the skills needed for doing that is less important. We expect you to be good at several of the following and be able to - and interested in - learning the rest.

  • Taking ownership and achieving results
  • Trying new approaches to both new and old challenges
  • Working with others to leverage the strengths of everyone in the team
  • Learning new skills and improving upon existing ones
  • Continually looking for ways to improve what we do
