Job summary

Worley Hyderabad seeks a Principal Process Engineer to lead offshore oil & gas process activities across project phases, delivering high-quality design and analysis in line with API/ASME/ISO standards.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, perform simulations, and support HAZID/HAZOP studies while driving safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. This is a senior, client-facing role with global opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with 18+ years in process engineering.
• Offshore oil & gas FEED and detailed engineering exposure.
• Knowledge of process design, equipment sizing and offshore systems.
• Experience with process safety and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proficient in process simulation tools and independent problem solving.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering deliverables for offshore projects (concept, FEED, detailed).
• Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, and process calculations.
• Perform and supervise simulations, heat & material balances, optimizations.
• Prepare design basis, philosophies, and specifications.
• Conduct or support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and safety studies.
• Coordinate with piping, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical teams.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and review deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with client specs and international codes (API/ASME/ISO).
• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and proposals when needed.
• Identify risks and mitigation measures to ensure timely delivery.

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Principal Process Engineer to support offshore oil & gas projects, responsible for leading process engineering activities across all project phases. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to deliver high-quality engineering solutions in line with project requirements and industry standards.

The Role

As a Principal Process Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

• Flow Assurance (OLGA)
• Lead and execute process engineering deliverables for offshore projects (concept, FEED, detailed engineering).
• Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and process calculations.
• Perform and supervise process simulations, heat & material balance calculations, and optimization studies.
• Prepare and review process design basis, philosophies, and specifications.
• Conduct or support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and other process safety studies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (piping, mechanical, instrumentation, electrical).
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and review their deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications, international codes/standards (API, ASME, ISO), and company procedures.
• Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and design reviews.
• Support proposal engineering and estimation activities when required.
• Identify risks, propose mitigation measures, and ensure timely project delivery.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 18+ years of experience in process engineering, with strong exposure to offshore oil & gas projects.
• Proven experience in FEED and detailed engineering phases.
• Strong knowledge of process design, equipment sizing, and offshore systems.
• Experience in process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim).
• Good understanding of process safety and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience working on international offshore projects.
• Exposure to brownfield modifications and debottlenecking studies.
• Familiarity with digital engineering tools and workflows.
• Ability to mentor teams and drive engineering quality.
