Job summary

Axi seeks an experienced MLRO/PO for its Trading Platform to lead KYC/AML/CFT compliance, onboarding controls, and STR filing with FIU-IND. You will build ML risk engines and policy frameworks around Travel Rule for crypto deposits, and own the KYC-EDD pod to ensure compliant onboarding.

Collaborate with product teams and LEA, stay updated on global VDA travel rule regulations, and develop SOPs to minimize friction with local regulations while ensuring robust risk controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, commerce or related field.
• Minimum 10 years experience in financial services, fintech or trading sectors.
• Proven track record in KYC/AML and regulatory risk management.

Responsibilities

As the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) / Principal Officer (PO) for our Trading Platform, you will be responsible for filing STRs with the FIU-IND (Financial Intelligence Unit - India) which is a part of the Finance Ministry. You will be the single point of contact for all KYC - AML/CFT matters. You will also be ensuring that the business is compliant to all applicable local /international AML-CFT regulations and identifying Money Laundering (ML) risks.

Your EDGE Assignment/You Will

• Ensure that our product and business is compliant with local and international KYC norms/laws.
• File STRs with FIU-IND in an error-free and timely manner.
• Be well versed with various Travel Rule providers and build engines to highlight and mitigate risks arising out of Crypto Deposits. Create risk policies on treatment of output flags from these vendors.
• Develop a sanction screening framework for the organisation.
• Own the KYC and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) pod to ensure that all onboarded customers are compliant, and the product is efficient to capture any ML risks.
• Work closely with the Product team to ensure that sufficient ML risk engines are built that will detect fraudulent transactions.
• Liaise with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) to ensure resolution of any KYC related issues identified.
• Keep informed of Virtual Digital Asset (VDA) travel rule regulations across the globe and help the company develop Standard Operating Policies (SOPs) in a manner that will lead to limited/no friction when local regulations are introduced.
• Be the owner for various internal KYC-EDD and other compliance SOPs

Are you the one

• 10+ years of experience preferably in the financial services or trading or fintech industry.
• Worked as an Principal Officer for at least 2-3 years.
• Experience in fintech/ digital / start-ups / other high growth set-ups will be valued.
• Deep understanding of compliance and risk.
• Worked with multiple teams thereby demonstrating strong collaborative traits with focus on problem solving.
• Keen to understand various concepts in Web3 like tokenization, custody, Travel Rule, etc.
• Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Bachelor s degree from one of the premier colleges in India. Post-graduation is a plus.
