Principal Engineer – Validation for Micron Technology, Inc. The role focuses on SSD firmware validation within Micron NAND based systems. The position is listed under Job Profile(s): Product Development Engineer 5.
Responsibilities
- Define test plans, test cases, and develop test scripts to validate SSD firmware for Micron NAND based systems and solutions.
- Lead functional, system‑level, and customer‑centric testing.
- Collaborate with Micron’s hyperscale/Datacenter customers throughout the product life‑cycle to improve cycle time and customer quality.
- Communicate status, issues, concerns, and strategy of programs and projects, including development of appropriate indicators.
- Operate with little direction to meet defined goals and handle ambiguity.
- Work with and through others to achieve goals and task completion.
- Comprehend and articulate validation strategies, plans, and status.
- Work with auto code generators, AI agents, and develop skills for AI agent performance validation tasks.
Qualifications
- 8–14 years in embedded firmware or 4+ years specifically in SSD product validation.
- Hands‑on experience debugging NVMe/SAS protocol issues using Lecroy/JDSU analyzers.
- Prepared test plans involving IO workloads, NVMe protocols, and media management aspects using Medusa, SanBlaze, and Oakgate.
- Prior experience validating SSD firmware using UNH and PCIe‑CV test suites.
- Define, develop, and implement software, firmware, and device validation test plans and content.
- Integrate tests into an automated test environment and collaborate with test execution teams.
- Review, track, and document test results and sightings.
- Drive issues to closure by interfacing with other product development teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Good knowledge of Windows and Linux operating‑system debugging and coding in Python.
- Effective oral and written communication with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Expert planning and tracking skills, organized, focused on results, and able to manage multiple projects with excellent time management.
- Excellent knowledge of system storage and its relationship to platform components: CPU, memory, PCIe, drivers, OS, firmware, etc.
- 2+ years of experience working with auto code generators, AI agents, and developing skills for AI agent performance validation tasks.
