About the Role

Lead end-to-end application development using Progress 4GL / OpenEdge ABL, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and performance-driven.

Define technical architecture and design approaches for enterprise applications, with a focus on stability, reliability, and long-term sustainability.

Drive modernization and enhancement of legacy systems through refactoring, optimization, and integration-focused improvements.

Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects, product teams, engineers, and QA partners to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.

Design and support system integrations using APIs, web services, and enterprise integration patterns.

Apply expertise in application design, database management, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production-readiness improvements.

Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and delivery.

Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and promote knowledge-sharing across the team.

Support Agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, estimation, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experiencein Progress 4GL / OpenEdge ABL development.
• Strong expertise in designing, developing, debugging, enhancing, and maintaining applications usingProgress OpenEdge ABL.
• Proven experience in enterprise application design, database management, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience working with system integrations, including APIs, web services, batch processing, or data exchange mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of scalable application architecture, software engineering best practices, and application lifecycle management.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct code reviews and guide teams toward efficient, maintainable, and high-quality technical solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and deliver practical, business-aligned recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership in a collaborative delivery environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with legacy modernization, application refactoring, re-platforming, or cloud-readiness initiatives.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such asAzureorAWS.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment automation.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments with distributed or global teams.
• Knowledge of modern integration patterns, API-led architecture, or microservices concepts.
• Experience in financial services, mortgage technology, fintech, or other regulated business domains.
