Position: Principal Engineer – PDM
Overview
As Principal Engineer – PDM, you will lead large multidisciplinary projects across India, including airports, commercial, residential, cultural, and sports facilities. You will manage project budgets, negotiate fees, represent Buro Happold, and drive technical and commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead project delivery as project leader, manage budgets, raise and resolve concerns, and maintain profit targets.
- Draft fee proposals, negotiate additional fees with clients, and provide consultancy advice to architects, planners, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Chair meetings, identify commercial risks and opportunities, take necessary action, and ensure client delivery exceeds expectations.
- Drive project performance, service delivery, and technical outcomes while reviewing progress to maintain high standards.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks proactively to avoid adverse impacts on projects.
- Lead design, analysis, and consultancy under the guidance of the PL/PD.
- Coach, mentor, and support junior employees, ensuring their effectiveness.
- Build internal and external networks, contribute to bid success, set work‑winning targets, and promote Buro Happold services.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams, deliver coordinated solutions, and document creative options with benefits and shortfalls.
- Produce reports, presentations, models, and drawings; adhere to internal quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain continuous professional development and improve processes, procedures, and systems.
Qualifications
- Experience with minimum two aviation projects and track record of delivering complex multi‑disciplinary projects (12+ years).
- Strong leadership, facilitation, and team leadership capability.
- Excellent communication, understanding of relevant policy and regulation, and strong external network.
- Professional accreditation and degree in Civil/Structures engineering.
- Proficiency in a global matrix organisation, experience on international projects.
- Proven ability to manage project risks, costs, and performance.
