Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of stormwater systems and hydrological processes.
  • Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling using industry-standard software.
  • Familiarity with GCC standards and international stormwater design standards.

This role supports the delivery of hydrology and stormwater projects at a senior technical level. Working closely with the Associate, this position provides advanced technical expertise, ensures quality assurance across deliverables, and mentors team members to build capability and confidence.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake and oversee complex 1D and 2D hydrological and hydraulic modelling tasks using tools such as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SewerGEMS, QGIS, FlowMaster, and culvert design software.
  • Review and refine stormwater management reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance with standards, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Apply working knowledge of Civil 3D and BIM to support design integration and visualization.
Project Support & Coordination
  • Work closely with Associates and Principals to deliver project packages, ensuring technical quality and timely outputs.
  • Collaborate with CAD, Roads, Landscape, Geotechnical, Environment, and other teams to integrate hydrology seamlessly into multidisciplinary projects.
  • Coordinate with CAD teams to ensure stormwater drawings reflect modelling outputs accurately.
Mentorship & Guidance
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and modellers in model development, calibration, and report writing.
  • Support team capability development through knowledge sharing and coaching.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
  • Promote sustainability principles in hydrology and stormwater solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance WSP ME’s client service.
Professional Engagement
  • Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and project planning sessions as required.
  • Stay updated with technical developments, standards, and innovations in hydrology and stormwater management.
  • Ensure weekly submission of timesheets and adherence to company governance requirements.
Key Competencies / Skills

Mandatory skills

  • Strong understanding of stormwater systems, hydrological processes, and drainage design, with proven ability to apply advanced methods.
  • Proficiency in 1D and 2D hydrological and hydraulic modelling using industry-standard software (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SewerGEMS, QGIS, FlowMaster).
  • Familiarity with local and international stormwater design standards, including awareness of GCC standards and manuals.
  • Strong computer literacy, with capability in modelling software and supporting calculations using Excel or equivalent tools.
  • Effective English communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and client interaction.
  • Flexibility to work on projects across the Middle East or UK, as dictated by project requirements.
  • Demonstrated competencies expected at Principal level:
    • Collaboration & Teamwork – working seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Technical Capability & Delivery – ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality in technical outputs.
    • Adaptability & Learning – staying updated with evolving standards, tools, and practices.
    • Mentorship & Guidance – supporting junior engineers in technical development and report preparation.
Desired Skills
  • Previous project experience in GCC countries, including coordination with local government agencies for design approvals (NOCs).
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary project environments, integrating hydrology with roads, landscape, geotechnical, and environmental teams.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D and BIM workflows to support design integration and visualization.
