Job summary

Vertiv in Pune, India seeks a Principal Engineer – Electronics Simulation (EMI/EMC) to lead simulation-driven design across the product lifecycle and accelerate first-pass certification.

You will drive advanced EMI/EMC analyses, collaborate with PCB, power electronics and mechanical teams, and mentor engineers while advancing CoE capabilities. Strong background in SI/PI and global standards is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering is required.
  • 12+ years of EMI/EMC design, testing or simulation experience.
  • Experience with power electronics systems (UPS, converters, industrial).
  • PCB design and SI/PI considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EMI/EMC simulation efforts across product development lifecycle.
  • Perform advanced EMI/EMC simulations for radiated and conducted emissions.
  • Integrate EMI/EMC simulation into concept to design verification workflows.
  • Collaborate with PCB design, power electronics, and mechanical engineering teams.
  • Identify noise sources and optimize filtering, shielding, grounding, and routing.
  • Lead root cause analysis of EMI/EMC failures and drive design improvements.
  • Support certification with CISPR/IEC/FCC/CE and liaise with test labs.

Position Summary

The Principal Engineer – Electronics Simulation (EMI/EMC) is responsible for leading the development and implementation of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) simulation strategies across product development lifecycle. The role drives simulation‑driven design practices to improve first‑pass certification success, reduce dependency on external testing, and accelerate product development timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • EMI/EMC Simulation & Analysis
    • Perform advanced EMI/EMC simulations for:
      • Radiated emissions and immunity
      • Conducted emissions (power and signal lines)
      • ESD, EFT, surge, and RF immunity scenarios
    • Identify noise sources, coupling paths, and critical frequency bands early in design cycle
  • Simulation-Driven Product Development
    • Integrate EMI/EMC simulation into:
      • Concept and system architecture phase
      • PCB design and layout reviews
      • Design verification and validation workflows
    • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams:
      • PCB Design
      • Power Electronics
      • Mechanical / Thermal Engineering
  • Design Optimization & Root Cause Analysis
    • Analyze simulation results and correlate with lab testing data
    • Recommend design improvements:
      • Filtering, shielding, and grounding techniques
      • PCB layout and return path optimization
    • Lead root cause analysis of EMI/EMC failures
  • Certification & Compliance Support
    • Support compliance with global EMC standards:
      • CISPR, IEC, FCC, CE
    • Develop pre‑compliance simulation strategies
    • Work closely with certification labs to reduce test iterations
  • Tools, Methods & Libraries
    • Utilize industry‑standard simulation tools:
      • ANSYS HFSS / SIwave / AEDT
      • CST Studio Suite
      • Mentor HyperLynx (SI/PI/EMC)
    • Develop reusable:
      • Simulation models and templates
      • Component, cable harness, and enclosure libraries
  • Capability Building & CoE Development
    • Define EMI/EMC simulation roadmap and capability maturity
    • Establish internal simulation capability to reduce external dependency
    • Contribute to Electronics CoE capabilities including simulation and design services
    • Mentor engineers and develop technical competency within the team
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Collaborate with global engineering teams and product lines
    • Interface with external certification agencies and test labs
    • Influence product design decisions through simulation insights
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering (required)
  • Master’s degree preferred
Experience
  • 12+ years of experience in:
    • EMI/EMC design, testing, or simulation
  • Experience in:
    • Power electronics systems (UPS, converters, industrial systems preferred)
    • Product Design(Hardware -Mixed signal) ,PCB design and SI/PI considerations
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Electromagnetic theory (Maxwell’s equations)
    • Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI)
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • EMI/EMC simulation tools (ANSYS, CST, HyperLynx)
    • EMC standards and test methods
  • Knowledge of PCB grounding, shielding, and layout techniques
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in data center / power infrastructure products
  • Experience in global product development environment
  • Exposure to building simulation capabilities or CoE
