Job summary

Vertiv Co in Pune, India is seeking a Principal Engineer – Electronics Simulation (EMI/EMC) to lead EMI/EMC simulation strategies across the product development lifecycle. You will drive design practices to improve first-pass certification, reduce external testing, and accelerate development timelines.

Candidates should have 12+ years in EMI/EMC design, testing, or simulation, with experience in power electronics and hardware design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering (required).
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 12+ years of EMI/EMC design, testing, or simulation.
• Experience in Power electronics systems (UPS, converters, industrial systems preferred).
• Product Design (Hardware - Mixed signal), PCB design and SI/PI considerations.

Responsibilities

• EMI/EMC Simulation & Analysis: radiated and conducted emissions, ESD/EFT/surge, RF immunity.
• Simulation-Driven Product Development: integrate EMI/EMC into concept, PCB reviews, verification workflows.
• Design Optimization & Root Cause Analysis: analyze results, suggest filtering, shielding, grounding improvements; lead root cause analysis.
• Certification & Compliance Support: support CISPR/IEC/FCC/CE; pre-compliance strategies; coordinate with labs to reduce iterations.
• Tools, Methods & Libraries: develop reusable simulation models/templates; libraries for components, cables, enclosures.
• Capability Building & CoE Development: define roadmaps, establish internal capability, contribute to Electronics CoE; mentor engineers.
• Stakeholder Management: collaborate with global teams and external labs; influence product design via simulation insights.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Principal Engineer – Electronics Simulation (EMI/EMC) is responsible for leading the development and implementation of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) simulation strategies across product development lifecycle.

The role drives simulation-driven design practices to improve first-pass certification success, reduce dependency on external testing, and accelerate product development timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EMI/EMC Simulation & Analysis

• Perform advanced EMI/EMC simulations for:
  • Radiated emissions and immunity
  • Conducted emissions (power and signal lines)
  • ESD, EFT, surge, and RF immunity scenarios
• Identify noise sources, coupling paths, and critical frequency bands early in design cycle

Simulation-Driven Product Development

• Integrate EMI/EMC simulation into:
  • Concept and system architecture phase
  • PCB design and layout reviews
  • Design verification and validation workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
  • PCB Design
  • Power Electronics
  • Mechanical / Thermal Engineering

Design Optimization & Root Cause Analysis

• Analyze simulation results and correlate with lab testing data
• Recommend design improvements:
  • Filtering, shielding, and grounding techniques
  • PCB layout and return path optimization
• Lead root cause analysis of EMI/EMC failures

Certification & Compliance Support

• Support compliance with global EMC standards:
  • CISPR, IEC, FCC, CE
• Develop pre-compliance simulation strategies
• Work closely with certification labs to reduce test iterations

Tools, Methods & Libraries

• Utilize industry-standard simulation tools:
  • ANSYS HFSS / SIwave / AEDT
  • CST Studio Suite
  • Mentor HyperLynx (SI/PI/EMC)
• Develop reusable:
  • Simulation models and templates
  • Component, cable harness, and enclosure libraries

Capability Building & CoE Development

• Define EMI/EMC simulation roadmap and capability maturity
• Establish internal simulation capability to reduce external dependency
• Contribute to Electronics CoE capabilities including simulation and design services
• Mentor engineers and develop technical competency within the team

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with global engineering teams and product lines
• Interface with external certification agencies and test labs
• Influence product design decisions through simulation insights

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering (required)

Experience

• 12+ years of experience in:
  • EMI/EMC design, testing, or simulation
• Experience in:

Technical Skills
