Job summary

WSP in India seeks a senior civil engineer with 13-17 years of consulting EPCM experience to lead drainage and flood-related infrastructure projects for Australian clients. You will manage hydrology studies, 2D/1D flood modelling, and design drainage networks to meet project criteria.

You will prepare technical reports, review designs, and present findings to clients while coordinating with civil, geotechnical, and environmental teams to ensure compliance with standards and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • 13–17 years of experience in civil engineering within a consulting firm.
  • Experience in EPCM environments and large infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Undertake hydrology and hydraulic analysis for infrastructure projects.
  • Design stormwater drainage networks, culverts, drains, and detention systems.
  • Develop 2D/1D flood models (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, DRAINS).
  • Prepare drainage reports, calculations, and design documentation.
  • Lead drainage design reviews with clients and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Support project managers in delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Undertake hydrology and hydraulic analysis for a range of infrastructure projects (roads, rail, urban developments).
  • Design:
    • Stormwater drainage networks (minor & major systems)
    • Culverts, drains, and detention systems
    • Overland flow paths and flood mitigation measures
    • Bridge opening hydraulic design regarding scour depths and rip rap sizing
  • Prepare drainage reports, calculations, and design documentation.
  • Develop and review 2D/1D flood models (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, DRAINS).
  • Ensure designs comply with Client design criteria and:
    • Local authority standards (e.g., Main Roads WA, Austroads)
    • Australian Rainfall & Runoff (ARR)
    • Relevant environmental and sustainability guidelines
  • Contribute to climate‑resilient and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
  • Use digital engineering and modelling tools to improve outcomes.
  • Prepare technical drawings of flood mapping.
  • Present and lead drainage design reviews with the clients.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, geotechnical, environmental).
  • Ensure compliance with Australian standards and client requirements.
  • Utilize advanced modelling and simulation tools to predict water‑related risks and evaluate mitigation measures, enabling data‑driven decision‑making for clients.

  • Maintain strong colleague relationships and contribute to the teams’ performance of client satisfaction.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing in internal and external forums.
  • Remain up to date with market and competitor knowledge.
Desired Skills
  • Strong preference for candidates with Australian experience.
  • Minimum 13-17 years of experience in a consulting firm in an EPCM environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis.
Qualifications
  • 13-17 years of experience in civil engineering with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and preferred master’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiar with working in a LEAN environment.
  • Experience with projects in Australia, New Zealand would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English.
