Job summary

Wood in India seeks a Senior C&I Engineer to own all instrumentation & control engineering deliverables, ensuring adherence to international codes and client procedures. You will coordinate the C&I team, support bid activities, and drive resolution of technical issues across design, construction, and start-up phases.

The role requires a BE/B.Tech in Control & Instrumentation with preferred PE certification, and strong experience with SPI, AVEVA software, and DCS/PLC systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree in Control & Instrumentation is required.
• Professional Engineer Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Single point responsibility for all C&I engineering & design deliverables, ensuring conformance to codes, standards, and client procedures.
• Coordinate C&I team and report to Project/Engineering Manager on project matters.
• Support bid/tendering activities with manhour estimates and schedule preparation.
• Originate or revise engineering deliverables.
• Review deliverables against procedures, standards and checklists.
• Manage discipline work to schedule and budget, including manpower allocation.
• Report progress of C&I budgets weekly and cumulatively.
• Identify concerns and propose corrective actions.
• Attend progress meetings and prepare status reports for Engineering/Project Manager.
• Liaise with licensors, vendors and OEMs to meet project scope and provide budget costs.
• Coordinate with other disciplines during design, construction, pre-commissioning and start-up.
• Provide technical support to site for inspections and FAT.
• Ensure change management processes are followed.
• Provide direction on technical queries and promote safe behavior.
• Participate in design reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure lessons learned are captured and shared.
• Take ownership of risk identification, assessment and mitigation for your discipline.

Responsibilities:

1. To have single point responsibility for all Control and Instrumentation (C&I) engineering & design deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering international codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures.
2. Coordination of C&I team and reporting to Project or Engineering Manager on project related matters
3. Supporting the Planning, scheduling and execution of discipline activities and deliverables, including manhour estimating and schedule preparation to support bid / tendering as required.
4. Originate new and revise existing engineering deliverables.
5. Revise and check engineering deliverables against company procedures, standards, and checklists.
6. Manage discipline work to the required schedule and manpower allocation, including requesting personnel as identified by the plan, and day-to-day supervision of discipline personnel on the project.
7. Manage and report progress of all C&I engineering and design budgets in line with contract requirements including weekly and cumulative productivity
8. To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and / or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
9. To attend weekly internal and external progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering / Project Manager
10. Liaise and engage with Licensors, Equipment Vendors and OEM’s as required to conclude the project deliverables in accordance with the project scope and provide third party budget costs for stage gate estimates as required.
11. To co - ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre - commissioning, and start – up to ensure there is no conflict within the overall engineering design.
12. To provide technical support to site in terms of material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing etc.
13. Ensure compliance with management of change processes both technical and financial
14. To provide direction and guidance on technical queries relating to mechanical engineering and raise appropriate EQ’s / deviations.
15. To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary
16. To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
17. Should be Able to work on P&ID Review & Tagging, Instrument Index (preferably in SPI / AVEVA), I / O List, Data Sheet for various Instruments including sizing calculations, Instrument Loop Typical, Material Requisition (MR), Technical Bid Evaluation, Vendor Drawing/Document Review, Mechanical Package Review, Cause & Effect Diagram, Alarm & Trip Schedule
18. Knowledge on DCS, PLC, ESD/SIS and F&G Systems (Preferred)
19. Take ownership for Risk Identification, Assessment, Mitigation, Monitoring and Close Out for your respective discipline.

Software

Shall be familiar with SPI, AVEVA Instrumentation and 3D model environments like Open Plant, AVEVA E3D, SP3D or equivalent.

(Candidate having Professional Engineer Certification is preferred)
