Job summary

Axonwise Technologies is seeking a seasoned software architect to guide architecture and delivery for key product areas, while staying hands-on with design, code reviews, implementation, and production outcomes.

You will mentor senior engineers, shape API design, observability, and reliability, and champion responsible use of AI coding assistants to boost productivity without compromising security or sound engineering judgment.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years building and operating production software.
• Hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails or Python, and ability to guide the other backend stack.
• Experience leading React-based web applications.
• Strong system-design fundamentals across APIs, data stores, integrations, and reliability.
• Regular use of AI tools in software development with prudent verification.

• Use AI coding assistants regularly for research, implementation, tests, and documentation; review generated work for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Improve API design, testing, observability, reliability, and engineering workflows without adding unnecessary process.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, and explain trade-offs clearly to product and engineering partners.

What we are looking for

• 12-15 years building and operating production software, with ownership of significant systems or product areas.
• Strong hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails or Python, plus the ability to guide and review work in the other backend stack.
• Practical experience building or leading React-based web applications.
• Strong system-design fundamentals across APIs, data stores, integrations, and production reliability.
• Regular use of AI tools in software development, with the judgment to verify outputs and protect confidential code and data.
• A track record of influencing technical direction across teams and connecting engineering decisions to customer and operational outcomes.

Experience with SaaS products, AWS or another cloud platform, background jobs or event-driven systems, and automated testing is valuable. Familiarity with more than one AI coding assistant is a plus, not a requirement.
