Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation in Hyderabad seeks a Principal Engineer to lead embedded hardware design and development for advanced electronic systems. This role focuses on end-to-end hardware ownership, from defining requirements to testing and release, in a cross-functional setting.

The candidate will design around 8/16/32-bit MCUs, manage schematics and PCB layouts, perform analyses, and drive improvements through DAC/OP-AMP interfaces and wireless considerations.

• Directs activities in the discipline and represents the organization at external events.
• Evaluates operating systems, provides technical training, designs electronic components, and develops implementation schedules.

Responsibilities

• Embedded hardware design and development across 8/16/32-bit MCUs.
• Own hardware development cycle from design to testing.
• Provide PCB layout guidelines and maintain Gerber files.
• Perform circuit analysis, stress analysis, and HW FMEA.
• Prepare test plans for designed circuits.
• Troubleshoot hardware and optimize performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, quality, regulatory, service.

Role: Principal Engineer

Location: Hyderabad

Full/ Part-time: Fulltime

Senior Electrical and Electronics Engineering professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise. Directs activities in the discipline and represents the organization at external events. Evaluates operating systems, provides technical training, designs electronic components, and develops implementation schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Embedded Hardware design and development. Individual must have the ability to understand system requirements, create functional specifications, and design. Detailed responsibilities include
• Review product requirements; create technical specifications as well as system testing requirements
• Ownership of complete hardware development cycle (Design, Development & Testing)
• Design & Development, modifications of embedded systems around 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers including Analog & Digital components
• Update and maintain detailed schematics, components library, BOM and design documents for products.
• Support sustenance activities including component management
• Provide PCB layout design guidelines to PCB designers and maintain Gerber files
• Perform component selection for obsolescence and value engineering programs
• Provide detailed circuit analysis, Stress analysis, simulations, HW FMEA
• Preparation of test plans for the circuits designed or modified.
• Troubleshooting hardware, debug firmware and optimize performance.
• Cross-functional interfacing to accomplish assigned tasks - with supply chain, Manufacturing, procurement, quality, regulatory, service etc
• Follow internal hardware and firmware development processes and contribute to process improvements

Requirements

Strong knowledge in mixed embedded system design (analog and digital) by using 8 bit/16/32bit micro controllers or processors e.g. PICxxx series, TI’s MSPxxx series, ST devices, etc

Hands on experience of design different interfaces like external memories, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, MODBUS, CAN, LCD & touch screen interfaces etc

Experience in Wireless Design architectures – Bluetooth, WiFi, Zigbee

Experience in Analog design – Opamps, signal conditioning, ADC, DAC and Filter designs

Proficiency in Schematic capture tools like Orcad.

Proficiency in circuit analysis, circuit simulation using PSpice/Mathcad/Matlab and circuit tolerance analysis is must.

High level Experience with PCB layout tools like Allegro/Orcad layout
